Odd comms buildings

Postby ted » Fri Sep 29, 2017 6:26 pm

Slightly off topic...

This strange roadside building located to the NW of Masham in North Yorks
is close to the Sail Hill trig point http://trigpointing.uk/trig/5788 .
The building appears to house communications equipment but noone
seems to be quite sure who it belongs to (notices are minimal) or what its used for.

Over the summer, whilst trig bagging in Northumberland, I've encountered
four more buildings of the same type:

'NY5758 : Repeater Station near Greenlea Cross'

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4334239 S of Haltwhistle
'NY7260 : The Beacon on Plenmeller Common'

Haydon Fell, N of Haydon Bridge

http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2935088 S of Prudhoe
NZ1059 : National Grid Telemetry Building, Currock Hill

All are in prominent locations, easily seen from a distance.
Any ideas please as to who put them there.

No idea about who put them there. Maybe they are now being used as part of the mobile phone system?
