8 out of 10 for historical significance. Parked 5 minutes away surrounded by signs threatening tickets, clamps and being towed away. Scampered across the Bath Road and located the canon and plaque easily. I visited this trig many years ago before the present level of development at Heathrow, hopefully it will remain safe for many years to come.

The stone is almost unreadable thanks to the ravages of time and the awful font used. I took along a whacking stick to clear the nettles, very glad that I did. The cannon muzzle was barely visible thanks to the undergrowth in the field. Sorry to report that the pig farmer that owns the field has now erected a second barbed wire fence that makes a quick trespass almost impossible unless you want to leave portions of your genitalia behind.

I parked at the northern end of the byway and strolled to the cache. A tractor was working nearby that turned out to be the farmer and landowner. He was more than happy for me to walk to the playpen as long as I stuck to the tractor marks in the crop. Great views, particularly to the north.The top block and ID plate were unfortunately hidden by some mean looking nettles and I had no bashing implement with me so decided it best to not try to clear them. All seems to be in good order and the farmer is aware of his asset and quite proud of it.

Two benchmarks, one of which is a bolt and a trigpoint all at one location. The bolt is not located on the church tower roof but is on the RH gatepost at the base of the steps. Nice location with the sound of Sunday morning hymns echoing from the church. The flagstaff can be seen and photographed as shown in the pics I've uploaded.

Walked up a heavily rutted track before scaling a couple of small fences to reach the earthworks. Good panoramic views and an interesting site that deserves more explanation. 3 more interesting stones dotted around that predate the trig by many years.

As described by others below this trigpoint is located in the rear garden of a bungalow. There is no other means of access besides knocking on the door and asking politely to visit. The gentleman who lives there was very pleasant and allowed us in with no problem, He is in the middle of doing up his garden and has cleared the pillar so that is in the open and easy to view. It is in good condition. He allowed me to photograph the flush bracket but requested no pics of the pillar as it would show the rear of his property and he is concerned about security. The house owner is very proud of the trigpoint and said it was a major selling point when he purchased. He is a walker and has used trigpoints to navigate in the past. If you do visit be polite and you'll be welcomed. If nobody is home don't be tempted to find a way round, if caught you'll be spoiling it for future trig baggers.

A steep walk up to the hill fort but well worth it for the panoramic views. Whilst there I visited the tomb of the Earl of Caernavon and found 'The Curse' geocache. Pillar is in good condition as described in previous logs. It was very windy at the top and I was surprised at the number of people making the climb.

Have only just started out Trigpointing and I sure hope they are not all this hard to find! I have plenty of scratches to prove the effort. There is another way in to the reservoir compound to that previously described, its hard to find and involves getting on your hands and knees but is much safer than climbing barbed wire fences, contact me for directions. The pillar is heavily overgrown but looks in reasonably good condition.

Indiana Jones country, pass me that Machete.
