Parked at Breaval car park south of the hill, and followed the red trail from there, after a fork there is a sharp bend,(south west of the pillar) where a small track follows the valley up to a gate. From there it goes up the right side of the hill, till the pillar is in sight. More great views from here, the higher mountains covered in snow. Very nice.

I didnt get to this one this time. A 6 foot high green fence has been erected all around the area behind the housing. I didnt really feel like climbing over it, even though I could. I never thought id get to this one again. Would be my 3rd visit. From the left end of the barrier left of the train bridge, and then headed up and right to the junction of fences. A gap in the fence has appeared here. Next head north along fence to get to pillar. The whole area is heavily overgrown, definently not recommended in summer (all 3 visits were in the summer)

Visited twice within a week as I was staying in Melfort. First was on a foggy, but dry day, using a circuit of tracks from Ardanchur. then a short climb through spruce. Second was on a sunny morning and a more direct ascent from Melfort, following a stream from the east. Best views of the holiday. There is a break in the forest for ascent, on the southeast side of the summit.

High mark for interest. Ive never seen anything like this one. The pillar has been sealed inside a public telephone box. Spanners and pliers are needed to access the pillar. Unfortunately I didnt bring any, as I didnt think we'd go past it this way today. Good views though, and at least the trig is safe from the weather. To reach I followed a track opposite arduaine farm, which leads almost up to the top, and a quick grassy ascent from the end of the woodland. Could see flush bracket through a gap in panel.

Took an interesting route to this one after climbing Beinn Chapull. There was a lot of forestry felling work in Gleann Meisean which complicated things, forcing us to push through dense spruce to avoid them. Worth it though, we had good views from the pillar. Theres a path shown on the both maps climbing up from a minor road on the west side, which is certainly there on higher ground, but it disapeared on the descent.

4 of 4 for the day. Visited before. I first thought this would be quite difficult to reach as its actually in the school grounds surrounded by a 6 foot spikey fence. But its quite easy. A path runs from the east side of the school and goes along its north edge, right to the pillar. Theres a gate here, which makes climbing over quite simple, just be carefull of the spikes. Views are quite good overlooking Leeds.

Best to reach from the footpath which cuts out the headland, there is a path shown on the 1:50,000 leading straight there but it doesnt exist. Stone built pillar, and of course no plug . Still not a bad viewpoint

Having walked along the edge of the access land from Sail Hill, I decided on a different approach from others on here. Entering the forest area at a gate on the southwest corner, rather then via the byway at the southeast. It was quite simple from there. Left at the fork and struck out north from the bend in the track. Today there was the remains of a bonfire as a guide from where to turn off. It was quite easy to spot from there. Im not sure what those rock circles surrounding it are for though. Views are great up Wensleydale.

I spent over an hour lounging around on the rock waiting for the rest of my walking party to catch up with me

This one was easy to find, after reading the older logs. 30 yards north of the quarry track, theres a tiny set of steps on the right of the minor road which leads right up to it.

Another night time trig, because I was going somewhere close by Viewed from the road, just south of the farm, in a construction yard. I climbed over the wall and went behind the blue shed to reach it, where theres a gap in the metal fence. Trig in good condition, but theres no view at all.

I approached this one from the path to the north. No farmers about, easy to get to and find. Its amongst a nice thorny hedge, so I couldnt climb ontop, without getting scratched to pieces. not bad views to east. The flush bracket is on the southwest side of the hedge.

Easily viewed from the minor road. Climb up from the layby and climb over a small wire fence. Trig has great views to the south, nice and sunny.

Within the reservoir compound. Id read about the gap in the fence, but I must have gone to the wrong side, and ended up just climbing over the fence, using the wall just south of the mast. It was a lot easier then I thought. I managed to find the gap on the way out. Its in the northwest corner by the mast, and next to a bench. The trig is in good condition, and looks like it has a good view. But again, it was dark.

4 of 4. I first came to this by accident. We took the wrong path off round hill, in thick fog, and reached the minor road a lot lower then Id hoped. The quickest way back to the car was along the minor road., past the trig. This one had its own bin. too bad none of the rubbish was actually in it.
