Parked at Widdop Gate and walked SW up the reservoir access road until heading directly up the hill alongside the catchwater channel. Crossing the catchwater followed a not very frequently used path between wall and fence to the old ruin of a building. At this point, a heavy slog through tussock grass crossing PW to reach the pillar. Trig sat within its own stone circle, good views, picking out Stoodley Pike to the SE. Plug removed, cap fitted. All other metal work intact. Return via same route. Done with PL

Walked in from the track to the SW of the Pillar. Leaving the Widdop Moor road we were fortunate to see a Goldern Plover defending her chicks, a lovely start to the walk out. I could not help but notice the amount of wonderful dressed stone that had been dumped on the side of the track and it would appear used to form the foundation of the track at some of the many gully crossings. Seemed like a waste of good dressed stone!! Good path from the end of the track upto Lad Law. Excellent 360 views from the pillar and certainly we spent a moment or two picking landmarks out. Pillar still looking splendid in its recent White coat of paint. Like the red on the FB...makes reading the number in the photo pics easy. Done with PL.

Walked in from the East having managed to park the car on the side of the minor road heading to Widdop Res. ( very limited parking spots) walked out in the direction of the pillar on PROW. Really easy going and the ground astonishing dry for this time of year. Curlews and Lapwings in abundance. Excellent views of Pendle Hill and the previous log at Extwistle Hall...Pillar, all metal work intact. Done with PL.

Used the small parking area down at the side of Wythop Beck just near river bridge. through the metal gate onto the fell and took the direct route up the fell side. Lovely little top with great all round views on a day with clear visibility. Traditional stone pillar with plug filled. All other metal work intact. Returned via the marked tracks which gives you better view on return journey. AW's No 191 ticked.

Access from parking on Macclesfield Rd near PROW SSE of pillar. Using the FP we walked up to Prestbury Golf Club drive and then round the edge of the fairways to get to the pillar. Easy enough to get to with hardly anybody around. Return via same route.

Parked in the Wessenden head road CPk. Walked along the road and dropped off onto the open moor and short pull up to West Nab - neat little cluster of Millstone Grit rocks. Lovely sunny day, could easily get a customed to a warm southerly wind in the middle of February. Good views and a nice spot for lunch. Trig. Plug removed and what looked like a metal disc fitted. Return back down the hill via a reasonably well worn path to the road.

What a dreary location and goodness knows what lies beneath now ? after years of Salt extraction. eventually found the pillar which seemed to be in remarkable condition and still stood vertical given its surroundings and activity below GL. Plug/Cap removed and filled. No reference to views due to time of day... Return by same route

Looks like the Boxing Day hunt had been through judging by the tracks in the field! Pillar tucked up against the hedge and still the owner of all its metal work. Reasonable views but not the best day for visibility. Nice spot apart from a noisy A49.

Access from parking on verge on Alpraham Green road and walking down field side or roadside hedge line - real easy log. Its slowly being devoured by the hedge so requires a well trained eye ! Managed to clear back the top of the pillar from encroaching hedge with Nozzer's snow shovel (He is from the Highlands where these devices get used, unlike the leafy lanes of Cheshire... So it had it's use in December if only for gardening) Pillar stilling owning all its metal work.

Parked by the old Pub and walked across the PROW - thistles and nettles in abundance in July if in shorts! Pillar stands out in what seemed to be a recent coat of white. Liked the little plinth for the base - kept in traditional style. Nice touch. Trig obviously seriously attacked previously for its metal work but stood its ground. Amazingly it stills retains its plug. Excellent views on a glorious sunny afternoon. Lovely Spot.

Parked on the Kebs rd, small layby at the County boundary post. Starting at the road bridge over the stream which had a mere trickle of water in it. Walked up a reasonable footpath to the pillar. The moor really dry and the peat very dusty. Pillar has foundation exposed on south side. Looks like maybe an attempt in the past to remove spider? Plug removed and filled, otherwise all metal work intact. Nice coat of pretty recent white paint. Excellent visibility on a glorious summers day. Picked out a number of pillars inc Lad law trig to the North through the bins. - which looks like it too has been recently upgraded to white.

Parked at the end of the Road at New Laithe. Walked up the access road to the masts. Headed down the Burnley Way and once at the first gate head up on to the ridge line. There is a bit of a track heading in the direction of the pillar and this makes for easier going. Absolutely bone dry under foot which I can imagine is a massive exception to the rule ! Trig has plug removed otherwise all metal work intact. Foundation exposed on one quarter. Excellent views on a very hot day

Managed to park on the B6107 and walk up the access track heading south from SE074125. Walked past the trig on the lane to metal gate for access into the field - beats scaling walls. Reasonable views on a very warm but fairly hazy day.

However on route decided to use the height advantage and parked in a reasonable carpark area on Jeffery Hill and walk out in NE direction via the boundary stones. Pleasant walk but a bit rough heading up the shooting butts to meet the path along the ridge line. Trig sat on some serious concrete and reasonably good coat of paint. All metal work intact. Excellent views out to the N and W and Blackpool Twr spied through the bins.

Parked on the road at Fell Foot and headed up to Parlick (that's a pull for sure) Glorious day -hottest day of the year to date apparently. Sky above adorned with para sails, making good use of the thermal updrafts. Lovely walk out to the top of Fair Snape fell. Mighty impressive wind shelter. Not needed today though. Excellent views but constrained by a haze. Just pick out the Power St at Heysham. Plug removed and filled otherwise all metal intact. Still retains some white paint but flaking.

Nice easy log on a cracking spring day. Parked in the forestry carpark to the NW and had a really pleasant walk up to the old fort remains. picked up the trig whilst doing as a mini circular stroll. All metal work intact apart from the plug removed and now remains of an asphalt cap around the perimeter. Back in the day guessing the view would have been stunning across the water. Dropped down the south side of the hill to take in the views across the bridge and out over Inverness. Done with nozzer.

Parked in Archiestown and waked up the forest trail. Absolutely beautiful day with a lightly chilling wind from the East. Once out of the forestry block it took a little ferreting around to spot the pillar, maybe 30 metres back into the plantation. Plug removed and filled other wise all metal work intact. Excellent views but constrained by some of the forestry block. On return walked out to the small summit of Cain Cattoch.

Parked opposite Quarry entrance at the top of the steep hill and walked around inside perimeter of quarry - (no activity today). Nozzer reports trig has been moved yet again. It appears to have been lifted and placed on the corner of the neighbouring field next to the 5 bar metal gate. It does not look in any immediate danger and seems to have been placed with some care in the upright position. Suspect this is not its last resting spot! Continued on to visit the WWl & WWll gun emplacements on a bitterly cold day with limited visibility. Very interesting hillside especially relating to its history.

A really lovely elderly farmer granted access but not before we covered some farming talk. I could have spent all afternoon chatting and listening to the history of the local area. Trig is in good condition, all metalwork intact. Excellent views across over Hartington and the River Dove.

Parked down in Ecton just up from River bridge -small layby. Walked up the small vehicle access track past what might be Ecton hall?, architecturally the building seems out of place with its copper covered spire - use of local resources I guess. Steep pull up the hill but what a delightful hill full of old mine workings from 250+ yrs ago. Recommend stopping at the Old pump House to read the info boards, very enlightening. On up to the trig having peered down the old mine shafts. Trig in good condition with all metalwork intact. Excellent 360 views and I spent a while picking out all distant trigs through the binoculars. Return via similar route but had wander around the old workings. Liked this one a lot.

Good parking spot in Layby at Hordern Stoops. Headed South up the well defined path and a fair bit boggy today after the snow melt, found myself walking on top of I guess the one time boundary wall that now seems to be the path on wet days ! Muddy ascent up final pitch to the summit to be greeted by not one mast but an abundance of masts. not enough fingers to count them all. Threading my way past metalwork eventually found the trig - bit wet and boggy from recent lying snow. Pillar with weathered white coat of paint and adorned with Red Rose. third of the day with RROL. Plug removed and filled otherwise all metal on pillar intact. Views to N & NE uninterrupted by the array of masts. I imagine this to have been a great view point pre mast era.. best view from top of TV Arial now.

Plug removed otherwise all metalwork intact. Good 180 views to the South.

Parked up in the first car park on the left just off the bend. Knew it was going to be cold due to the CP potholes being frozen but was certainly not ready for the wind chill when we emerged from a nice warm car. Four layers on straight away and then up the hill to the summit. The beast from the East had really serious wind chill. A few people at the summit looking as chilled as we felt. Not the best for long distance visibility today which scuppered our primary objective apart from the log. had a wander around the top mumbling about iron work on top of hills again. Walk in from the Grouse Hotel on a bright but freezing cold day. Bit of a trudge up through snow but compensated by cracking views and good visibility. Really cold biting winds at the summit so retreated to the forest block to gain relief from the cutting wind. Trig has two large cracks at base and just below top. All metal work intact Return route using our previous ascent steps in the snow to make lighter work of the descent. Unfortunately the hotel closed so a well earned brew did not materialise. Accessed from the track at NJ280000. A walk up the track on a really blustery day. Plenty of grouse about and very reluctant to leave the cover of the heather in such high winds. Once they were airborne it was Mach 1 in seconds. Spectacular views of the River Dee and Balmoral estate. Trig nicely surrounded by its own outer fortress wall which proved very welcoming in the high wind and easily accommodated Nozzer, Big J and I without the need for shelter seating manoeuvres. Pillar has a large horizontal crack running through at FB height, plug missing.

Return walk via Dibbles Br and Appletreewick Pasture with curlews to keep us company this time.

Parking in Embsay reservoir carpark.(foc) nice walk from res up onto the edge. That's one substantial stone wall running along the edge with an abundance of crossing point stiles. Even a small seat against the wall at the trig pillar. Excellent views down to Pendle Hill and not a bad day for visibility. Pillar with a corner missing and looks like and attempt has been made to remove the spider some time past. Plug missing. but a reasonable coat of white paint in place.

Well impressed with the trig and its substantial platform. I doubt this Pillar is going anywhere anytime soon! Plug filled. Very good 360- views, but I am here on top of a hill moaning out metal masts again.

Quick visit to Porthmadog for a couple of trigs and checking out the Purple Moose Brewery, having been sampling their brew most of the week in various pubs. Nipped over the 5 bar metal gate near the entrance to the sewage works and up through the gorse. scruffy little outcrop with somebody's rubbish tipped just below the pillar. Trig views as expected at this level and close to town. Plug missing but the addition of a nice slate plaque to one face. Forgot GPS - hence not GR taken.

Don't log bolts as a rule, but as a reference to my last but one Welsh 3000 having just come across for Y Garn thought I would make an exception with this log. brilliant day with lovely sunshine and stunning 360 views but some high winds. This was a last day of a week generally above 700m - never had such a good week in the Welsh mountains without rain. Trade the wind for the rain anytime.

Access from parking at Graigddu - isaf and walking along PROW passed the waterfall in the direction of the Roman steps - headed up to the top of the steps for a view point. then back in the direction on Llyn Du. Glorious sunny day but windy. Round the Llyn and up to the TP. Traditional stone build. FB and plug missing. Excellent 360 views. Descent down southern slope - tricky in very deep heather and no defined path found by us. Again heading up the North side of Fach - no real defined path just grabbing clumps of heather and scrabbling, especially bottom section. gets easier two thirds of the way up ! Walked out to the summit cairn at 712m. A little further and the views over Llyn Hywel superb. Planned to continue out to Diffwys but the long heather won the day and descent came via a similar route to the ascent but a better defined path found when descending. Two lovely summits with a lot less traffic than the rest of Snowdonia.

Warm and sunny to begin the ridge walk N - S. Stunning views of Bala lake behind. Well impressed with the views of the ridge looking south from above Llyn Lliwbran. A bit blustery at the Trig but great out of the wind. Superb views 360. Traditional stone pillar, plug removed .Along with it's position it gets a 10.Descent, continued heading South to bag the Marilyn (Drysgol) worth the additional 200m of ascent. Headed down Afron Gwm-ochr to Lletty Wyn to pick up second car. Great day out.

Easy access across the burn and headed round the N side of the loch. Gate in the deer fence at NG903874. Approached the trig from South, easier climb up than the West facing slope. Headed out across the beach to the headland to log the Pillar. Scaled down version with plaque - Hydrographic Pillar, So no plug or FB but a very fine view.

Parked at the old Water treatment building at 978965. Followed the old track running West heading for the burn. Horrible walking over the moor, trying to avoid falling into the abundance of old peat excavations - failed on that score. Crossed the small burn at the WTW intake and up the hill to the Trig. Continuation of 7 days of excellent weather in the Highlands. Clear visibility with excellent views from a top of this little hill. Pillar has a crack approx. 1/3 height down from the top. Plug missing.

Cycled in from Backwater Res carpark and dumped the bikes at the end of the forest track (NO245618) Started up through the plantation but unfortunately headed West and really should have kept a line NW - Forest is very dense to low level so became a major challenge especially when exiting plantation at the crown of the hill, serious wind damage warranted a fair amount of climbing over fallen trees. Eventually arrived at the pillar. Good views and another day of excellent visibility. Plug removed otherwise all metal work intact.

Having left Ipstones on route to Westwood Hill called in at the Cheddleton Railway Station. Trip back in time on a Sunday afternoon. Well worth a stop and visit. They have a brew shed but we did not sample the fare on this occasion. Westwood TP. this felt a little uneasy, I nipped over the metal gate in the hedge between the two bends on Rowan Rd. Both gates between the two fields heading in the trig direction were open and had rare breed sheep in. more reason to be concerned. Once in the corner of the field a relatively easy scale of the fence/wall to arrive at the pillar. All metal work intact. Reasonable views. Return via same route fortunately unchallenged.

Access of Devil's Lane through the small wood. there is a trodden path that takes you into the middle top half of the wood. Odd brickwork chimney still standing - remains of small building maybe. seemed weird! Continued to the end of the wood and climbed the fence where the TV aerials are. up across the field to the pillar. All metal intact. view across to Harracles Hall - quite a splendid brick building. Back the same way to overcome the fence, but used the edge of the field against the SE face of the wood to get back to the road.

The last of my surviving Derbyshire Trig pillars to be logged. This pillar was very likely my first trig visit way back in the 60's. Both me and my brother have an old B/W photo with me sat on top of the pillar in what I believe would have been its original positon. My recollection of the position was approx. 5 metres South of the dry stone wall and on the crown of the Hill. (in the back ground of the photo) My logged GR is where I thought it stood. Excellent views onto Kinder and way down over Manchester. This gets a 9 because its local, its views and I sat on it as young lad.

Parked up in the little hamlet of Bonsall with its rather dominant stone cross on the road junction right opposite the Kings Head. Headed up one of the PROW out of the village past what may have be old mine workings - looked like limestone rakes?. Eventually found the surface block when aiming for the crown of the hill. Lovely day with good views and excellent visibility in almost every direction. Much the pity no pillar, always good to get a glimpse of the trig on the way to the top of the hill.

Return visit after being denied access by the farmer in Sept 2015 due to cattle being TB inoculated. Unfortunately no response at the door on this occasion so we decided against walking through the farm yard, plenty of signs indicating uninvited visitors not welcome - hence we withdrew to review Plan B. Parked up on Derby rd and used a small access track N of the school, three fields and a few cows and we made the TP. Good concrete base still exposed around the pillar. Quick log, light fading retreated back down the fields. Good end to the day in completing South Derbyshire Grp of Trigs.

Headed off down the county boundary fence in the direction of Scholes Height and onto to Bull Hill in what almost turned into a River walk. The moor must be at total saturation point.

Having parked on Holmley Lane and been shown to the trig via the steep steps by a local resident - who claimed that the future of the trig maybe in doubt as a planning application was being sought! We took the pic through the fence and decided to head around to Trent Grove and seek permission at No13. The gentleman could not have been more helpful and pointed us in the direction of the garden gate. All CJO's handiwork still intact including the slug family discovered by Farther Ted. We struggled to photograph the FB and the gentleman at No 13 brought us a torch to make things easier. Covering bricks replaced we returned the torch and thanked the owner who then very kindly supplied us with a paper copy of Trigpointing UK Coal Aston log page.

The last one of the day and what a challenge. I think this has been the most challenging of trig logs have ever undertaken. Parked in the Rykneld way and walked down the A5250 to use the PROW that goes between the houses, followed the path which goes through a couple of gates, at this point you think you are in a back garden of one of the houses. We then entered into the undergrowth in the general direction of the trig. Giant fungi, horrendously thick undergrowth overcome you find yourself on the fence line of the properties that front onto the A5250. Fortunate for us one of the residents had done some cutting back and our passage was made somewhat easier. We then emerged from the undergrowth back into the field to find the pillar within the hedge. As previous logs have suggested FB is a another challenge and caution if you are grubbing around at the top of the pillar, Barbed wire has been attached to the three eyelets. Not surprisingly All metal intact. Having done the log it was back the way we came but not before we were challenged by a local resident - neighbourhood watch !!

2/3 walked across from Cotton Park TP making use of PROWs where possible, numerous sightings of buzzard's and some wonderful flowering meadows just to the East of Rosliston made it a lovely walk. Just managed to navigate our way through the Garden Centre and on through the back area. to turn where the larger piles of horse muck are sat. Trig slowly becoming consumed by the hedge, all metal work intact. pruned back a small area above the top of the trig to grab a GPS reading - should of asked for some equipment at the GC. Location, very uninteresting. Returned via the same route heading back into the village for continuation of mission to next TP - Borough Fields.

Used the car park at Weags bridge for two day trig round. Access down the manifold Valley and using PROW up through wood heading into Soles Hollow. As previous logs had suggested, headed up the steep banking at the end of the wood to follow the ridge line to the pillar. All metal work intact. Good visibility on a reasonably warm day, admired the views whilst having lunch. Next stop Musden Low, which looked to be a fair way distant.

Plug filled, views back towards Blackstones low Trig - just visible through the binoculars protruding above the stone wall.

Accessed by calling in at the farm to obtain permission, fortunately a bit of activity going on in the farm yard and eventually the old farmer turned up and after brief discussion realised what the request was. He guided me up the yard past the dogs with log chains proceeding to tell me about one his dogs helping itself to some chaps trousers and how he had offered up funds to help purchase a new set. (not sure if the victim was a fellow trig bagger - not checked the logs) Much discussion then lead to the inevitable question - when was the trig put there, where is the Clochandighter when you need him !! - offered up early fifties which seemed to be accepted. Gladly accompanied to the gate into the field in which the trig is sat - 5 mins to go and log GR, gather FB number and get the photos for a quick return to discuss farming today, very pleasant to spend 1/2 hour talking to the farmer .

1/8. Parked on Farnah Green Rd and used the PROW heading East upto Firestone Hill. Once in the wooded area a good path heads South across the ridge line. Found the trig on the other side of the "No footpath" signaged gate. Initially took some spotting as the foliage well established. I can only echo the comments of pervious logs, trig certainly on first appearance gives the impression its been moved. Despite it's unfortunate lean it still retains all metal work and just about stands relatively unscarred.

Parked at Carver cross roads and cycled up coombs dale and picked up the yellow across Longstone Moor heading SE and then off East on the Bridleway taking the first set of double gates on the left (thanks to others for the useful note on directions) Very good day for visibility, excellent views in all directions with Win Hill and Mam Tor easily picked out to the North. Pillar not in the best of shape and unable to locate a FB, suspect buried as previous logs have suggested. Quarry still active.

Approached from the bottom of the HardKnot pass up the upper Eskdale valley heading for final ascent up to Esk Hause via the tongue. By far the best route I have taken onto Scafell Pike. The long walk up the valley on a glorious spring day was well worth it. Topped out on Gt End, completing other tops on route to the trig pillar. the usual crowds at the summit making the best of an absolute cracking day. Return descent via the Mickledore and drop back in down into the upper Eskdale valley. 20k round.

Spider looks to have been on somebody's list of collectables, however its still remains. plug filled. Windy day but reasonable views blighted by the wind farm to the East. Continued on to Withens Edge heading for second pillar of the day.

Parked on Wirestone lane at the forest block access points just South of the TP. What looks to have been a car park now has a closed barrier, I guess due its seclusion and obvious dumping ground for fly tippers. there is a small worn track of the back of the clearing (triggers path ) that takes you into the forest block, As described previous a fair degree of wind damaged and fallen forestry around the pillar. Parked on grass verge nr Yewcroft farm on the lane just off Matlock Rd. Took the FP heading West towards bank Farm but failed see the footpath that drops off to the left of there access track, so ended up close to the house. useful though, took the opportunity to ask if the TP is on there land. Its not - belongs to the farm a good few fields South. Back to the FP and through the first gate in the wall and up the field. Good views to the South. All metal work intact.

Walked up from PROW of B5055 just East of Bole Hill farm. pleasant easy walk up from the road, As previous, after a couple of stiles followed the wall line up the field to the top wall (Pillar just over the wall) to avoid climbing, follow the wall away from the trig - heading NW there is a small wooden padlocked gate, easier to scale than the wall.

Last TP of a 3 trig day (Pendle Hill & Stang Top inc on the circular route). From Pendle Hill across Ogden Res's, used PROW heading SE to Sabden. Took a footpath heading SW towards Lower lane fm at Sabden Hall to avoid using road - mistake, footpaths seemed quite undefined and lack of markings. Eventually picked up PROW at the bottom of the ridge and headed East for the 5 bar metal gate at the top of the hill - TP just beyond the gate. Good view back across at Pendle Hill - took the ridge walk heading back to Ridgealing Res. We bumped into a very interesting chap who was paying an extraordinary amount of attention to the local road signs, he turned out to be the designer and pattern maker of the local Green parish signs in the area. Three TP circular approx. 20km

Walked across from Stang Top TP. Route down between Black Moss Res's. The Hill shrouded in cloud at this point, so not relishing the prospect of a climb up and GPS navigate to the Pillar. However quite the opposite of what normally happens, by the time we were approaching the base of the hill all the cloud had been swept off and we were good for the views from the pillar. Not too many people around surprisingly. I am sure this must be a 9 on a good visibility day, but an 8 for us on this visit.

Approached from Tissington Trail having been unable to get permission from Lean Low farm (only encountered noisy dogs on my visit) Small brick workmen's shelter at North end of rail embankment is a good place to get over recent new fencing, Also reasonable place to gain access over the stone wall, heading up the field in direction of TP, just one more fence to scale before arriving at the pillar. Best of the 3 trigs done today for views. All metal work intact

Parked in Parsley Hay car park on 31/2 hour ticket. Planned to do Lean Low TP and continue down the Tissington Trail to Biggin , head East across to the TP and then back up the Mid-shires trail. All went wrong at Lean Low - unable to find anybody at LL farm to grant access, plenty of noisy dogs though, so changed plan to pick-up on return journey by heading back across to Hartington old station and coming at Lean Low from the West side, crazy figure of eight route. Lovely walk off the A515 at Biggin across the fields, ponies, sheep & lambs seemed to be enjoying some Feb sunshine. Good views from the TP but old brick works at Friden does not really enhance views to the North. Pillar - All metal work intact.

First trig of 3 on the day, Parked in Tissington trail car park and set out to walk to Kirk Ireton just East of Carsington water. Terrible ground conditions with some snow remaining on the higher ground, fields rich with very wet sticky mud (enevitable downside to walking this time of year ) Footpath navigation around Kniverton/Atlow somewhat challenging with a fair degree of guess work especially close to or around farm buildings where footpaths are marked close to the property !! not the best day for visibility unfortunately, anybody kicking out to do a multi-trig day in this part of the county, wait for the drier months.

Walked across from Elton common mainly using the yellows, footpaths not really helping much for this route. approached TP from the West heading across Bonsall moor. two walls + B/W to scramble over, not too difficult, limestone walls are not your substantial Gritstone construction that's for sure! Picked up very overgrow track heading East away from the Pillar back towards the point it meets the Limestone way. returned back to Winster using the Limestone way route and secured a cup of tea at the local shop before climbing back up to Stanton I.T Peak.

TP just over the wall. Excellent sunny day plus superb views out over Sheffield and beyond.

Amazing foundations on this particular pillar - just about photograph FB from the underside, spider still retained despite attempts by others to remove. Walked in from county boundary stone on yellow just above Sniddle Holes - walked across Blaze moss and Holdron moss along side boundary fence, would not recommend this route unless like us ii was in the middle of a hot/dry spell of weather. Gulls up around the TP not overwhelmed by our presence. Return journey via Langdon castle(Ruin) & Brook much more pleasant.

Access from parking at the Kings tree , Heading out to the trig from the Cut gate path along the NT boundary, the going under foot was pretty dismal, I think the Water shed was close to maximum saturation, the peat was just ready to swallow you up - Continued out to Howden Edge eventually bailing out at Swains Head and returning South following the River Derwent. Walked up from Fairholmes using cycle/walking track on the East bank of Derwent Reservoir, took the path to Nether Hey and then out onto Howden Edge. Good path heading North to Margery Hill TP. Brilliant days walking made the more interesting for observing a number of different military aircraft flying down the valley, eagerly awaiting the Lancaster, unfortunately not on this occasion. Excellent day for visibility and this has to rate high on my Trig Pillars for views.

2nd visit to the trig, first visit on 2/5/2011 and the view a spectacular panoramic out over Manchester, North Derbyshire, Cheshire and even Liverpool cathedral through the bins on that occasion. Not so fortunate on this visit, very poor visibility and required GPS navigation back across to Swineshaw moor. Trig Point looked to have been visited by somebody with a can of pink paint, its a pity it wasn't a large tin of white !! (score based on previous visit and memories of the view)

Not a good day for views - zero visibility apart from a quick break in the cloud - headed out from Inverie on the track heading North (Mam Uidhe) Access onto the hill from the SW climbed up to the ridge and traversed the ridge dropping down onto Mam Barrisdale. From here headed up onto Luinne Bheinn, visibility no better at the summit. Reversed ourselves back off the hill to the Barrisdale pass and dropped back to Inverie. 30k day and did the beer taste good in the Old Forge that night.

Brilliant day of climbing up to the trig in full winter conditions, memorable snow formations at the base of the hill with some spectacular opportunities for photographing the neighbouring summits. This was a Corbett bag and before Trig Point logging - but the Pillar was well snowed in -hence the CoP as inaccessible - if we had been logging, we would have needed a shovel to log the FB. Done with nozzer.

2nd Wainwright top on the day - Walked across from descent off northern flank of Skiddaw. Headed South down PROW passing Skiddaw House, heading up South side of Roughten Gill and trudged up the North side of Saddleback - Not the best approach for such a fine Fell. Brilliant views from the summit on such a good day for visibility. Previously done the summit via the ridge routes so did not feel cheated on this occasion.

Not done on the best of days, set off from a parking spot on the B4405. Summit looked set to be under low cloud for the day. So we had a walk up to Llyn Cau. At this point we decided to ditch the summit and walk around Llyn Cau. On completion of our circular walk the summit was cloud free - So decision change, made the trig pillar in less than an hour. (Pre trig pointing days so no FB/GR logged but got the pic. ) Summit back in low cloud by the time we got there, remember sitting in the shelter taking photos and seeing the low cloud in the pics inside the shelter.!! Average mark because the weather was playing games with us.
