Parked on the Falstone to Donkley Wood Road ny739866. Walked E along the Byway and Rievers cycle route to Slaty Ford. A post pointing NW indicates the Bridleway to Hospital Gate. Entering this gate entails following a ride westward, bringing you out at the trig point. It took me 1hr and 45 mins to suss out my precise location. The trig is still there, hidden, protected and no view. Spider intact. I don't envisage many people finding this one. My planned 2 hr return venture turned into a 3hr 45min schlep. Delighted to find.

My first trig since lockdown and Covid19. Parked on lay-by in Alnham. Walked west along road passing a church and pele tower. A signpost indicates the track NNW uphill and an easy walk to this pillar. Took time exploring the settlement and at least 2 roundhouses. Farmer on a quad decided to move a small herd of cattle in my direction so made a hasty move to small tree plantations. The trig commands fantastic panoramic views especially Cunyan Crag, Hedghope and Cheviot to the north. Spider intact the foundation block is fragmented. I was blessed with superb weather conditions. Did I detect an embankment running w/e just south of this pillar?

Parked on Stockdale Road sd835630. Our first of two trigs today. Approach to the summit took us through some spectacular limestone scenery. At the top great views of currently snow covered 3Peaks. This trig is protected with a circular stone shelter.

Parked opposite Victoria Park and Gala Cricket Club nt483367. A very steep uphill via the reservoir and filter station. A well defined track. Trig is located close to a stone wall. Spider intact. Pillar has a fracture running through top third. A huge stone cairn south of the wall. Is this Wallace's Putting Stone? Great views to the north. Could have continued on to Clovenfords but not enough time. 1hour return journey.

Parked at Yair Bridge nt459324.The Upland Way is well signposted through this forest. Uphill all the way, the forest tracks open out onto rolling moorland. Three stone mounds about 3meters high located next to this pristine white pillar. A plaque on the wooden fence lists names of standard bearers linked to the Riding of the Marches. Spectacular views of Eildon Hills and Cheviot. The spider is missing.8km return walk.

Parked in the red stone hamlet of Croglin.The church and other buildings are either sold or up for sale. Easy navigation - though continuous uphill all the way to the summit. This access area is closed during June and July -ground nesting birds. Very evident a grouse shooting area. Pillar commands fantastic panoramic views to include Lakes mountain ranges, Solway Firth and Cross Fell. Well worth the effort. Spider centre asphalt filled. Heather burning and a very energetic fell runner who accomplished the same journey in half my time. Beautiful blue sky, great scenery some snow on Skiddaw and Sharp Edge. A bit blowy on the summit.

Parked on grass verge at King Harry Farm. I gained permission from this farm. Farmer wondered why I wanted to visit. He appeared unaware as to the existence of trig points! Walked from the south through a gate that leads gently uphill through sheep grazing fields.Pillar is situated next to a gorse glade and commands excellent views especially west to the Lakes.Chunk of cement missing from the surface next to a spider arm. Beautiful day, blue sky and great scenery.

Ample parking on minor road to Catcherside near Raechester just off A696. Wear wellies.Followed the path SW to Crag Wood. Ascend NW to Ray Crag then across Blackdown Flow to trig. This is the boggy section. Pillar stands proud amongst a windfarm. Great views especially to north and west. Spider intact.

Our first pillar of the year. Limited grass verge car park opportunity opposite a gate. Visible from roadside. No need to hop walls or scramble through sheep holes. Follow the track road south through 2 gates. Wall ends. Sharp turn NE and uphill for about 100m and there it is. Spider intact. A plaque by Ordnance Survey states this to be the last observation retriangulation station. Date June 1962. Great views. The gate entrances are more muddy than the open access to trig point.

Parked in lay-by on southbound side of A1. Short walk 200m south along roadside grass verge. Finger post indicates the path uphill through a harvested field. Pillar tucked in a prickly hedge. Spider intact. Can't imagine a reason for visiting this trig other than it is there and seeing the fantastic colours on the field as the winter sun is going down.

Friendly man in cottage accompanied me to this pillar. Now a fence surrounds this trig. Apparently the water tank is constructed on an ancient burial cairn. Numerous Iron Age artefacts have been found. The buildings other side of the green lane WW2 hospital and morgue for pilots. Deserves a score of 7 due to the surrounding history.

Not as easy as you think. Navigating to this looks straight forward on the map.Recommend you do not follow the forest edge from Winter's Gibbet,as I did. It's very muddy and navigation to the pillar was problematic. Returned via the asphalt track from Harwood Head.It is much easier. Suggest future baggers start at Harwood Head ny972907 and walk NE 2km along the asphalt track till you see a pile of chippings that has yellow painted arrows indicating your route. On seeing these arrows walk NW 500m uphill. Look for a gap about 20m before the quarry. This gap leads you to the earthworks. They are much bigger than I imagined. The pillar is there, west of the earthworks and above the quarry. Huddled close to trees. Spider intact. Really pleased to find this one. Glad I stuck it out to find and seek.

Parked on B6277 designated parking and viewpoint. Walked sw over Cronkley bridge, south to the Pennine Way then WNW along Birk Rigg. Very strong head wind all the way to summit. Pillar located next to a small lake. No view due to low cloud. Spider missing. Return journey took in High Force and Low Force. A smashing walk with many interesting features en route.

Followed advice from previous logs and entered the complex. Parked at the Spa Parking sign and walked past the telephone box uphill. All of about 50m. There it is. Pillar shows last vestiges of white paint on the side facing south. Spider intact.This complex has cottages to let, a tennis court, mini putting/croquet green and a spa. Who would have thought this to exist between Netherwitton and Longhorsley!

Parked at nt672220 on wasteland next to Easter Ulston Farmhouse. Walked downhill and took the road signposted The Hoolies. A small gate leads into a field, today I think beetroot. Short walk all of 200m leads to this trig point. Located NW side of wall this pillar commands a great view to Mid Eildon Hills. Protected within a wire fence and located adjacent to a water reservoir, this pillar should last for many years.

Parked in a convenient layby at nt674204.Followed the Jedburgh Circular Route north along a hedgerow. A pasture field today full of sheep, thank goodness. Continued through another small gate and followed the gorse bush line eastward to another gate. This gate is not fastened. Walked through and there it is huddled within the gorse. Easier than expected. Spider is intact. This pillar has great views across to Carter Bar.

Parked at Black Middens. Following previous trig bagger descriptions it still took us 2hours, from Highfield Hope return, to reach this pillar. We zig-zagged all over the place in the forest clearing. The trig is covered in black algae and spider is intact. For the mushroom enthusiast a perfect time of year to record lots of fungi underneath the trees. Route description. Make for the deer fence at ny739912 and follow this fence. Don't choose the track. On arriving at corner of deer fence follow a compass bearing 344 degrees,through a fire break. A well earned pint at the Holly Bush Inn to celebrate a rather difficult pillar. No views but score goes up regarding personal challenge and endeavour.

Trig is in poor condition. Spider plug is missing and surface shows lots of weathering. This stone built pillar is situated in a lonely spot between the Cleveland Way and a bridleway heading toward Gallow Hill. I reckon very rarely visited unless of course you are a trig bagger. Some possible archaeology very close to this pillar.

A wonderful late afternoon walk at the onset of Autumn.

Parked on grass verge next to burial ground nt577273. Followed the minor road to Birseslees. Pillar stands proud on a high point within the hillfort.Spider intact. Superb panoramic views, especially of the Eildon Hills.Worth spending time exploring these earthworks.The lake/kame is only visible when you descend to the west from Camp Knowes, which now appears infilled with bog grasses. Lots of signs on approach roads and tracks requesting you slow down for horses. A lovely walk reflecting the onset of Autumn.

Pillar located within a hillfort. We spent ages up here exploring the ramparts. The great weather conditions and view opportunities must push this to a high score.

How beautiful. Our 2nd of 3 trigs today.Track through a wooded glade leads to a hillside quarry then up a very steep hill. We clearly chose the wrong approach.This trig is located within a hillfort and commands spectacular panoramic views. Found the footpath to descend. I reckon a rarely visited trig. It possesses a wow factor. Worthy of a high score. Whatever approach you chose it is well worth the effort.

Have wanted to do this trig for ages. Glad I chose today. A beautiful, calm, shorts and suntan lotion day in September provided the perfect opportunity.Parked at the Carter Bar view Point. The 2 hour return walk provided spectacular views. Trig point is located north side of boundary fence. Spider intact and no evidence of erosion. Spectacular panoramic views. Our first of 3 trigs today. Easy walk following the fence line. Underfoot fairly dry. Dread to think what this route would be like in more wet conditions. Descending back to Carter Bar provides far better views compared to the honey pot roadside view point.

Drove through the lovely hamlet of Caldwell and parked opposite a gate on the hilltop. High hedgerow with a couple of gaps. Managed to cross over a prickly access, metal fence, then ducked under a simple barbed wire fence. There it is, tucked close into the hedgerow, overlooking to the south a recently harvested field. Base of this pillar has a cement base that somebody has carved their imprint. Spider is missing. I reckon this is very rarely visited. Picked a few brambles afterwards.

From Blackford Hill I walked along Hermitage Drive. Now there is money here in this area of Edinburgh. Huge houses that relate to early 19th century builds. Passed the Merchants Golf Course.The trig has chunks of cement missing on the NW side.Remnants of white paint. Spider asphalt infill. Another popular site for walkers on this hot day.I could see the new Queensferry Bridge.

My 2nd of 3 trig visits around the streets of Edinburgh. Walked along the Braid Burn passing the toll house and Hermitage of Braid. Uphill via very steep steps to summit. Great views include Arthurs Seat. Base of pillar is beginning to show signs of erosion by visitors. Flush bracket has a red streak of paint. Spider is missing. Also somebody has inscribed "POLAR COORDINATES RULE OK" on the cement base. This beautiful August Bank Holiday Sunday has brought out the crowds who clearly appreciate the views.

Parked at Ski Centre country park. Sign posts help with navigation to this wonderful summit. The August Bank holiday heatwave adds credence, providing fantastic panoramic views. The trig is next to a fence, gate and summit direction plinth. Pristine white, spider missing. The temperature inversion provided brilliant views of Arthurs Seat as it gradually emerged from the cloud line. Plenty of folk out experiencing this wonderful location.

Outward bound via White Craig Heads, Carnethy Hill to Scald Law. Inward bound via the reservoirs of Loganlee and Glencorse. The trig commands 360 panoramic views. Spider missing. Purple heather blue sky,verdant bracken, the odd heron,fell runners,mountain bikers, sporty youngsters,fly fishing and a dad pushing child in pram add credence to this wonderful day. Visited the Anglo Saxon site then crossed a couple of barbed wire fences avoiding the cattle to enter a wheat field. Followed the tractor route to this pillar. A recently refurbished plinth. Commanding great views includes the Bass Rock. Spent time on return to explore the Anglo Saxon Site now shown by cement lines. You need to spend time exploring this location as it is not visible from the interpretation board. Info provided is brilliant.

Parked at the Y fork road to access Routin Lynn waterfall. nt984367. Walked SE along the road for about 1km. No vehicle access. In fact signs stated no access. I took to walking this minor road and came across a diverted footpath sign. Followed this NE through the plantation. Came across a deer gate. Went through the deer gate to open field and followed the fence line N to another deer gate. Alas the pillar located within the deer fence and wood plantation. I settled for some photos through this fence. Full of optimism and a fantastic trig this turned out to be a damp squid. On peering through the fence I could see this pillar shows some hairline fractures at lower section. On the good side I observed at close up a buzzard.

Started my journey from the bridleway just before Cornhill. However on seeing cattle I took an alternative route following the road to Glebe Plantation. Spider intact. Deep erosion at base of the pillar. Didn't stay long. A new build is taking place at Cramondhill.

Interesting remnant of a WW2 tower base located next to the masts, where high frequency radio signals were exchanged. Sacked off walking to this tower as the cattle were clearly on guard.

Our 2nd of two trigs today. Continuing our walk from Hungry Law we followed the perimeter of the forest park boundary NE to join the Pennine Way at nt777077. Heading south via Houx Hill we descended to the Cottonshope Road, over the burn then uphill towards Dour Hill. This trig is next to a fence. Our return route through the forest didn't happen. Bridleway is overgrown and impassable. A long walk ,partially via the road, ensued. The Forest View Inn is a smashing place for a well deserved real ale at the end of an epic walk.

Much of this has been felled and some of these forest roads now bridleways. Also some paths now defuncted. Approached this pillar via a ride. This trig is over a wire fence and within a stone wall. Great views of Ingleborough and the hills to the west and north.

This along with blue sky and fantastic views and meal at Rose and Thistle make this a worthy 7 out of 10 score.

Our second of 2 trigs today.Taking the train from Ribbleshead and walking from Dent allowed us to reach Gt Knoutberry Hill,our first pillar and this Blea Moor our second of the day. After 10miles and 2000 foot ascent the Station Inn is a welcome sight for a drink and meal. Highly recommend the whole experience.

Unusually good weather conditions for February and fantastic views allowed us to ponder the location of surrounding high ground. A stone pillar that is not the usual height of regular cement type. Sequence of styles and stone walls provide excellent shelter from wind regardless of direction. Descending to River Dee via Arten Gill adds credence to this walk. The viaduct is an unexpected feature.Recommend you park at the station of Ribbleshead. Take the train to Dent cost of 3.40 and walk back to Ribbleshead.

Worth spending time exploring the Whitesyke and Bentyfield disused mines.

Parked at the northern end of the dam at Burnhope Reservoir. 2hour return journey to this trig point. Wooden sleepers create a track in places.Top of pillar has severe erosion/chipping around the spider. Fracture exists midway across the pillar on south and west facing sides. Conditions were bracing to say the least. The winter sun, linear cloud formations and blue sky added to the atmosphere and enjoyment of this trig point. Plenty of views throughout.

The late afternoon sun did improve my grading of this trig from a 4 to 5.

This trig is surrounded by heather and commands spectacular views.Short as the walk is, a very worthy 6 out of 10 score.

Parked at Raisgill sd905788 and headed SW on a 1hour steep and gradual walk to the summit. Horse Head trig commands fabulous panoramic views. Some flaking of cement around the spider. The pillar is in need of a good coat of paint. Our first experience of continual rain prompted us to sack off further trigs and we chose to return via Beckermonds and the Dales Way. This turned out to be an unexpected surprise full of interesting limestone features which has enhanced my mark for interest. Green Field Beck was very low due to the unprecedented dry weather conditions we have experienced exposing long stretches of dry river beds. Yockenthwaite Cave and a nearby circular set of stones, located as a star on the ordnance survey map, added even further interest. A thoroughly smashing walk.

Located adjacent to a shallow hollow this trig commands fabulous views north to the climbing crags of Bowden Doors.Ventured another 200m northwest and explored the settlement which is much bigger than I expected.

Our second trig of the day. Walk from White Crag was tough going in terms of peat hags, tussocks and generally non existent tracks or paths. It took us a good 1hr 30mins to walk from prior trig. The views at this location were fantastic. The trig is surrounded by very interesting lichen covered boulders presenting great photo opportunities especially WSW to Deadwater Fell. Our return walk via White Kielder Burn to Blakehope Nick was a 3hour epic. The bridleway was barely visible. Our first experience of footpath was as we entered the forest at nt683985. The Anglers Arms at Kielder was a welcomed refreshment and meal opportunity. We encountered the midge at our departure from this hostelry to the car.

Parked at Blakehope Nick paying 7 to drive and leave the car at our start and finish location. Heather, and Cloudberry flora as well as the Girdle Stone and slight views of Catcleugh Reservoir made this an interesting route to summit. This trig is in good nick with views across to Carter Bar. We were very fortunate to experience this walk in dry conditions. Interpretation sign at Blakehope Nick currently has a section closed off to prevent footpath erosion. It is a good 2hour 30min walk from the car park to the trig location over tussocks and heather moorland.

Parked next to the church in Byrness. Walked south then west along forest roads to Ellis Cleugh nt743005 and followed the ditch line to summit. Observed a wild mountain goat doing a 100m sprint along the forest road. Wonderful weathering of sandstone rock on Ellis Crag. The trig point is situated on the eastern edge of this crag and has wonderful views especially to the east and south. Returned via the Three Kings Stone Circle nt774009.This is well worth a visit.

Having already done Calf Top we continued along the National Park boundary wall and were privileged to view the magnificent scenery of Dentdale and the Howgill Fells. This trig is located on a high point overlooking Sedbergh. A 7km walk back to Barbon on a minor road provided endless opportunities to admire our lovely English hedgerows.

Parked at Hartside and a straight up and down walk via Linhope. Hit the snowline at 420m. A photographers paradise. Not a breath of wind and fantastic panoramic views. Spent a good 20mins here identifying all its surrounding peaks. Could see the Border Ridge and the coast. Nestled within a stone shelter this trig gains some protection from the north westerly winds and still has a good splash of white paint. A fracture across top third.

A bracing 5hr winter walk starting and finishing at Buckhams Bridge. Wild mountain goats and lots of sheepfolds.Bitterly cold at this trig point.It presented us with superb panoramic views of the Cheviot Hills and the hills of Scotland. The mountain rescue hut is well located to seek protection from the wind.Lots of interesting things to chew over especially Chew Green.The sunset was the icing on the cake.

Paragliding on Sale Fell. On descent observed a stoat,white in colour, scurry into a pile of stones.

A bit of navigation required when leaving this trig and heading north.

This trig has a chip on the SW surface corner exposing a leg end of the spider. Looking south from this trig a small section of the forest corner has been felled. Parked near Rayless. Earthworks to cross and uphill through an interesting layout of horse field or some other animal, each with their own wooden stable/shelter. Never saw any animals.

Unexpected deep ravines, erratics and the opportunity to see Plover, Lapwings and Curlew made this a well worth visit. The trig is positioned on a small rocky outcrop easily seen from afar. The recent prolonged hot, dry days made this potentially boggy trek into a delight to walk over. Teesdale at its best.

The trig stands about 20m from a stone pillar. Didn't see another soul. Only the sights and sounds of the wildlife and the fantastic views.

Parked near Benkhill and walked to Scotchcoulthard. The off piste section across to Burn Divot was hard work negotiating the high tussocks and boggy terrain. This trig has an eerie feel to it. Located close to a ruined drovers building in a fairly desolate part of Hadrian Wall country. The history of this building intrigues me. I'm off to do some research.

For shear effort this deserves an 8. Parking on the minor road between Ridsdale and Knowsgate and walking via Wanney and Aid Crag was fine. However finding this trig beyond this point was a major accomplishment. Chuffed to bits. Especially as we relied on a good old map and compass. The wearing of shorts was a bad option.
