It is my 300th trig today and I really must be turning into a trignerd because I found a fallen trig 6 foot to the left of this one and it has made my day! No one mentioned it before on this site, so it turned into a nice surprise. Can't see the flush bracket side to this fallen trig which is a shame. Picture attached of the fallen trig.

The trig is in the very furthest corner of this group of dwellings. Through the only road entrance, you will be in full view of the three residences. The third one is now occupied. Although each garden is not as such allocated, you would be walking right through their gardens to get round the side of this garage. So the trig is now in someone's back garden, yet right up against the garden's edge. Staying in the field will be your only hope (and it will get you a view of the flush bracket).

I mistook pictures on this site for the new building site on the main road. I asked a kindly old man about the missing trig. He was an ex-geography teacher. It was (and always had been) in his garden, which is on the right of the road that heads downhill at the T junction. Onto his drive and through his little orchard gate. Beautifully cared for, he means to give the brasswork a polish soon!

Walked along the road to the end of the car par, hopped the wall then headed straight across the course. It would be a long 30yds on any other day. Looks like the tree/trig is a memorial now, as flowers were laid. Sat there for 30 minutes,enjoying the peace and nature and flask of coffee. Bet you can't do that on most days here!

A stud (more of a metal mushroom really), 50 paces east of the Howitzer, take a direct line from the Howitzer to the Lion and Calf. Set in a small patch of concrete within some rocks. I went looking for this, plus another on Brant Fell because my OS Explorer map has both of them down as trig points. Could not find anything likely on Brant Fells but am glad to finally contribute a new location to this site!

However, was on bike so easy to bob in and out of these places.From RA go up road to bus stop. Just beyond is a tarmac slope, top of which are two bungalows (with no defined gardens).At top of slope, it says private, where the road sharply bends to the right towards the bungalows. If you step into (recently cut)grassy area on the left and head clockwise around the base of a slope, only climbing it when you get nearer the fence, you can get within 10 metres of the trig without being in view of the bungalows.

For such a low height (164m) and due to the fact that I had to walk downhill to this one, the views are superb! They certainly picked the best location. Sweeping sea views, Holy Island south and mountain range to the north.

Broken views of Holy Island but good mountain views. My hardest yet and the flies out on the heather were close to unbearable. On the forest road, find the 2nd river,up track on R of river. Reach another river on R. Cross ford, turn L into trees to find a path. Follow river until the end where it disappears into a deep gully. You are in an opening with many routes. Turn R and follow this all the way to the heather slopes. There is a path from here to the top but it is easy to loose.

adding to what has been said before, make sure you do this walk as a circular, it is a well trodden path. There are a lot of sights (paintings, cave and spring) along the shore walk. Make sure you pop into the garden too, to see all the painted stones. Stayed there overnight (with dinner and breakfast) for £18. A fantastic place....oh yeah the trigged summit was great too. Brilliant views and the trig with peace flags and offerings was a nice touch too!

If you start from the north where the wood touches the road (there is a "car park") then look for the gate through the fence. A new fence up the hill is being put in which has created a route free from heather. There is 50m of bog to cross at a depression. Good views of Ailsa Craig and other islands (Sanda?)

A path leads up from Kings cave on the beach, heading north to a kissing gate into the wood (not on my OS landranger nor explorer maps. It's then a hard trudge straight up (an Arran trudge). For the lowest trig on the island at 137m, it's hard! Good views to the Doon nearby and across the water to Davaar

These Arran trigs are hard won (apart from Bennan). As the Postman path from Catacol leaves the powerlines,there is a faint path up until heather is reached. Keep going up. A good view up the glen and over to the main land. The Postman path from Lochranza is heaving with ticks!

I was knackered here, my 3rd out of 4 for today, so spent time to look around. I could "see" loads of other trig points from here and it gives you a good connection with the landscape. My picture "shows" the trigs of Beamsley Beacon (on the hill directly behing this trig. The ridge in the back has Overgate Croft Farm and Rombalds Moor on it.

A fantastic spot with views of the Lake District and the estuary below. Did a circular to take in the stone circle. Definately a steep final climb with wall to get over.Considering that this trig is at 281m, the views are hard to beat for the amount of energy used up.
