Very vicous winds, practically no visibility. But always a good palce to go, whatever the weather! The cairn has been tidied up a bit since my last visit.

Access is quite easy, not far from the road, but the ground is uneven and boggy at parts. The piilar is just a mess... and next to it, there is a skull (maybe of a cow) with the words 'This belongs to Rachel And Kelly' written on it in red ink. Not the most impressive of pillars and hte landscape about isn't much to look at. Swansea Airport is nearby.

Very easy access from the road. Visited this when helping out with DoE Exped. Also found a small concrete pillar (about 2' tall, photo is in album) some 200 metres West (to get to this is simple, too, follow the path toward the road, and go off anoter path on the left, which goes downhill, this pillar is at the bottom).

Found it on its side.. in good condition. The flush bracket seems to be coming out. ROY is engraved on the top side. Getting to this trig damaged my car's underside from a pothole on the road. Hope all is well though!

Parked at the junction of the road and track to Tor Clawdd Farm. Walked uphill into an open field of cows.. quite wary of them.. do you find it eerie how they stare at you and watch your every move? Instead of a plug, there is a plastic bottle. Very good views over the Swansea and Loughor Valleys.

I parked at St Mary's Church car park, I gave a donation. Returned here just at sunset. Awesome view, especially at this time, but wind was howling! Took loads of photos of the pilar and the area.

I'ts down a lane, passing rather a new housing estate. Possible replaced by a reservoir and the two masts. Gates locked, so not really good access by vehicle. Fly tippers visit here. But, almost certainly gone now. But really nice views of Swansea and the Valleys! Anyway, it doesn't look too good for the trig point with fly tipping, two large masts, a reservoir, ploughed fields and a housing estate!

In good condition... kind of awkward to find, it's in the Bon Y Maen RFC ground premises, next to a house, possibly the ground keepers, so the gates are always open. The photos were awkward to take because of the fence was very close to the pillar and fitting the trig and myself (and as much background as possible) into the frame was tricky, that's why I knelt down in one photo! And also maybe the resident would wonder about things.. if he or she saw me, and being near a school, it was even more awkward! But good views of Swansea Bay, though things like trees, houses and pylons can get in the way.

Good condition 2006-05-20 17:50 - TP5068 (Neath Golf Course)

Really good location, you can see up the Neath Valley and Swansea bay. Really good views! Getting there can be awkward, best to get permission as I did. Stick to the left perimetre of the course until you'll find a wide path (wide enough for a buggy) to go uphill. And then the pillar is by a very old telelvision mast.

Awkward to access. Probably need permission, but couldn't find anyone! Need to scale a fence or two to get there. It's tucked in the bush, so it isn't the easiest to see! I parked in the layby near Cefn Y Don Farm lane, and walked up.

Good trig! Long, but interesting trek to get there.. parked the car on the same sharp corner as Mick and Shane mentioned... walked through farmland, common land, Motorcross tracks, forest, etc! As I reached the pillar, the weather turned really bad.. fog and rain everywhere.. luckily my camera survived! As I walked back, visibility was really poor, roughly 100 metres... I couldn't see the tall mast nearby anyway! As I headed down the road, I saw two guys walking towards the Golf Course... no idea what they were doing out in that weather! It was my intention to go to the Neath Golf Course and Cefn-Y-Don trigs.. but rain told me to head back home...

Easily accessible, apart from the un-stabilised and locked gates! But almost adjacent to the road... just watch out for livestock.. as I left, a flock of sheep came up the road towards me! But good views and good condition! Not accessible via Cwmgiedd village itself, but possible and easer via Palleg Road, Cwmtwrch Isaf.

Really good position.. can be awkward due to military issues, though it's adjacent to the road. Visited this after a day of shooting on the range. The top is damaged and it seems to have had no spider at all!

Took a while to find, but easy as it was about 2 metres away from the spring. It was surrounded by long grass... and it is awkward to see... so to point out where it is.. I used my li'l sheep, Myfanwy, to make the position visible from certain points!! I uploaded a few photos of nearby features for location guidance, too.

Easily accessible by a track from Pen Rhiw Fawr... just watch out for rubbish and debris by fly tippers! Or if you want a walk, park by a nearby farmhouse (Blaen Nnat, SN 738 114). Although toppled... it is in good condition!
