Good path all the way up this one if you know where to look. Parked in layby 200m up forest road to SE of Kielder village. Followed path through woods to junction with Osprey MTB route. Then straight up hill NE wards on a path along firebreak until it turns 90 degrees SE for 500m, partly shared with mountain bike track until meeting another firebreak. Cross plank bridge and follow good path up past fire tower to summit. Partially signed as Three Pikes trail but only further up the hill for some reason. Suspect forestry commission trying to separate MTBs and hikers.

When only Rob, Graeme and Aileen have visited a trig, you know its going to be inaccessible. Probably the hardest work I've ever expended to climb a sub 500m hill. Cycled from Calvert Trust car park through fresh snow to firebreak north of trig. Followed break straight up hill (second half not shown on map and headed for Long Sal currick which is visible well before trig appears. Hard work through peat hagscovered in drfiting snow. Trig in decent nick except slight crack. With my dad.

I bet this hill has never had a busier day in its life. Climbed up along forest track then headed up newly felled area from high point of track. On descent met Alan and George who were More interested in its Hump status then found my dad at the bottom busy making Ed a cup of tea before he started his ascent. All this on a hill with only 5 trig ascents and a single entry on Hill Bagging!

Looks to me like this may have been removed when the new drainage channel was dug to counter the soggy patch on the West Highland Way. old photos seem to indicate a similar position to the relatively new drainage ditch. No sign of it now anyway.

Live log from island with 7 other triggers. Full log to follow at home. Mild swell made getting onto island tricky but possible. Later comments: as Graeme says a very surreal experience. Boatman thought the lot of us were quite odd but very amenable chap who did his best to get us onto the island in imperfect conditions. Island is obviously less densely vegetated than previously and relatively easy to explore in its fairly minimal attractions. Trig Pillar is not on high point being built next to Keepers Cottage. Worthwhile visit though purely to put real life faces to names and characters you feel you know so well through logs read over the years but never met. Great Day Out!

This poor trig has not been visited for 12 years! Since then the forest has gone and a new forest of wind turbines has arrived. It is now between turbines 16 and 15 in the Blacklaw wind farm. I aprroached from Hill of Westerhouse farm to the south but you might want to come in via main windfarm access to the East on the Shotts - Forth road.

Found this one. Decided to park my car on Riccarton Road in SE Linlithgow and approach along the fence line from the West to look for remains of the Trig. Found it lying next to the fence around 300m west of its original location at around NT010764. Small chunk missing from the top corner but otherwise in one piece. Unsure of Flush Bracket as that is the side facing downwards. Someone might be able to dig it out if they were determined. Too heavy to roll it over on my own.

Trig 250! This trig has emerged from the trees thanks to recent felling and has excellent views across the upper Tyne valley. Parked at Gibshiel next to the farmhouse and the footpath is well signed and extant even through the forest. Emerges from the forest 200m North of where marked on the map at NY797936 though. On the way back to the car it hailed so heavily that there was virtually a white out!

Dug up lots and lots of turf but difficult to prod for as the ground is very stony. Measured 16.52m from the directional sign across the road (dodging the traffic!) but sign may have been moved slightly. Didn't seem to tally with the gully measurement either. Suggest the next person to attempt this brings hedge cutters and two 30m tapes as we suspect it is probably closer to the hedge than you can easily get at the moment.

My 200th trig!!! Climbed with my father (Philip Cotton) and Ken Hayes. Parked at picnic site south of Cuddy's Hall and cycled up to NY564853. There is a short northerly section of forest track that has been built since the Ordnance Survey map was produced. Followed a fire break on foot west to the forest edge and followed the west side of the forest to the summit of the hill. Trig point on the fence line at NE corner of forest bisecting Northumberland/Cumbria border.

My first trig point aged four (although I didn't note down the number) Had been to other mountain tops by papoose but this was the first self powered ascent for me. Saw submarines in the Clyde on the way up.
