‘Clump’ is about right! Trig well protected by Blackthorn, Bramble and Nettles - quite a challenge to get to in shorts & thin T shirt. Managed with a just a few scratches but couldn’t get to the FB side of the pillar, so had to reach around and hope for a half decent picture to get the number. Only accessible from the field edge, not the road.

(thinking the trig point was there before the cairn); my next thought, having read the plaque was 'What's the point?' - surely the cairn would have prevented taking measurements for 120 degrees or more. A short walk having hopped the easy fence by Brookfield Farm. No signs of human life anywhere. Pillar and metalwork all in very good condition, very poor views though. According to the local development plan this pillar will be just inside the school grounds when it is built. The aircraft hangers shown in Peregrinus' 'back' photo have been demolished, as have most other structures on and around the airfield.

Asked at farm house and had a pleasant chat with the owner who directed me by the easiest route to the pillar. Pillar in good condition, the facing has been repaired at some time in the past and two of the signting tubes are still plugged. Reasonable views all around considering how low this one is compared to the surrounding countyrside.

Could see this pillar from what seemed like miles away across the fen. Knocked on the door of the big house (up the drive next to the cottage) and the lady of the house was happy for me to visit the pillar - even advised the safest route to avoid the mud & water. Great views in almost all directions.Sadly the sprawl of Peterborough is getting closer! Pillar in good condition with just a small chip missing from the top.

Walked from the water tower - through the edge of Hayley Wood where possible to avoid the very boggy track. Arrived at the Trig on the wrong side of the ditch so backtracked to cross over at the field end. Discovered after visiting the pillar that someone has placed a plank to cross by a mere 30-40 yards further along.

Easy to get to and find at this time of year, hard up against the fence of the adjacent garden. There has obviously been a lot of bramble growing here that has been cut down to 3-4" long stubs. The householder was watching me from his kitchen either wondering what I was up to or thinking "Here's another of those spotter weirdo's" Pillar and metalwork in good condition, as you would expect in this location but views pretty poor.

Best time of year to get to this one as the foliage is quite easy to get through. Pillar in good condition but neighbour's compost heap is encroaching. The reed fence appears to be getting old and is quite easy to push far enough away from the pillar to photograph the flush bracket. No views - score given for the mini adventure to get to it.

Found an easy way through from the churchyard, even though the ditch had water in it. The mown paddock appears to be connected to one of the adjacent gardens so probably done with a sit-on mower. Pillar and metalwork all in good condition. Photo's not great as I only had my phone with me.

We had quite a slog getting up here in the snow with a fairly difficult gully scramble at the side of Pillar Rock. Score for the ascent and great views. No flush plate or recess where there should have been one.

High score due to the history - this is where William the Conqueror built a causeway into the Isle of Ely in an attempt to defeat Hereward the Wake and you can imagine the scene from the trig point, watching the Norman invaders drowning as their pathway sank into the marshes.

Stopped off at this pillar on our circular route around Bannau Sir Gaer from Blaenau. The cloud lifted quite suddenly as we left the TP giving us sudden views of the spectacular scenery to the North and East. Carried on to Llyn y fan Fawr where we camped and had a wonderfully clear moonrise over the lake followed by a spectacular sunrise in the morning.
