But will add, that the trig seems in good condition, but the rough concrete (unusual!) is a well worn)

hmm, interesting approach this, from the front (approching from the end of the lane) it looks like there is no frontal path (more later), so off I scout round the north. Eventually find a path to bottom of small (almost)cliff, "ah yes that looks climbable", and indeed it was quite easily, but kept thinking wouldn't make a good decent. Luckuily once found the trig (good condition etc), saw that a reasonable path down the 'front', so using that found it a easier decent (even tho drew blood on thorns), but once down the path back to the main path was quite notorious, falling alway, overgrown, litter strawn (you don't want to know the type of litter!)... on to the next trig...

A Primary station built in about 1954 to precisily position the new Royal Observitroy being built there, espially relative to its old position in Greenwich. Its now got a mirror device mounted which i persume was/is used to reflect signals of. It is aligned with a similar device on a building near to Solar Pillar. UPDATE: As Herstmonceux is the fundamental point of the OSGB36 datum, this pillar is still observered to on occasion to fix the position of the nearby Satalite Observertory, which on occasion does observe GPS orbits and therefore can confirm the UK position within a world Datum, although this isnt done by the OS. (the Active and Passive Stations are used by the OS for that purpose)

Not for the faint hearted! Probably one of the most demanding approaches to a trig I've done. The trig is still in good condition, made of stone, still has raised lettering plug in place. It propably doesnt see many visitors being surrounded by dense woodland, so much so that there is no view at all! If planning to visit this trig my only piece of advice: wait a few years for the trees to be cultivated! [in light of other logs: forgot to mention the slog across the 'open' land, what made it so tiring!]

Pillar is in good condition, being repointed in places to keep in good condition. There is no sighting holes, although these could of be covered over when it was repaired. The Plug is made of tar. This pillar is actually at the Summit of Moelwyn Mawr - Large Snow-Hill in english. This is one of my local hills, so been there around 10 times, this begin the latest visit. My first recorded visit there, was 8-8-1999 but i think i had been there before then. See my photo for the FB number, S8450.

Destroyed 2004-05-30 18:03 - TP7311 (Manod Mawr)

This is a local hill for me so been there more times than care to remember. I have never remember seeing a trig point there, in the 12 or so years, since about 1993 (but was days before took notice of trigs or had camara!). There is the remains of a pillar there (see pictures - taken 30/5/04), which appeared to be of stone. Of interest is the innards of the trig that is now visible, there is a metal upper center bolt, at the center of sighting holes. The trig remains is surrounded by a ring of stones, when this ring appeared i'm unsure. (my first recorded visit was 21-8-99 14:32) Update: Apperntly the OS have it recorded as destroyed 1/9/97. It also says no FB was ever present.

Found this exactly where is said it should be. Its fairly close to the road, with rather a lot of rubbish lying around the site. Spide being filled with what looks like fine tarmac. Otherwise in good condition, persubably in part due to its adoption!

I thought i've already logged this. So adding it now, will have to check the exact date when i find the photo and/or gps logs. It is only 10 minutes from where i was working in april. The pillar was all in tact, as best i remember the plug was still there. On a golf course, so got a few strange looks walking across the fairway to take a picture of a concrete column.

Not sure if this one still exists, 50k map shows it perisoully close to gardens of fairly modern houses. Goto within 47m according to GPS - on the pavement! Might be there at the back of the houses but not publically accesable and getting late so I didn't mess around trying to find information. Rather disapointing end to the day not to find it but never mind. (19 stops in all!)

Nice location, seems to be populare with dog walkers on the briddle way. Had to look for a break in the fence to get into the correct feild and then had to follow the tire marks in the crops to get to the trig. In good condiction

Another on where i had no details (other than waypoint in GPS) so not sure what looking for. And as it turns out a surface block so not much chance of me spotting that! It turns out looking at the sketch on os website, the GPS took me to stand on it without even knowing.

Having read the previous log, and not having a printout of the photo, i wasn't holding much hope. So I wonder round the curb for a few minutes looking for any sign and see nothing. So I get the GPS until it its says that the point is 2 meters into the main dual carrige way, and put it down on the curb to take a phote. I then notice a bolt in between the kurp stones - its the bolt! I take a step back to take the picture and there is a blue arrow sprayed on the road ;-) How did I miss that!

Center Plug is missing and 2 out of 4 of the bottom Sighting Holes has been filled (only just found out about these).

Your standard production concreate pillar, situated on a golf course. Affords excellent views of the City of Bangor, although slightly dwarffed by the radio mast now erected nearby. Spider and hocks still there but the plug is missing. Also unknown origin of stickers displaying 23 on FB.

Missed the path on the way up, so a intersesting accent over broken boulders! Well worth it! Trig in generally good condition with center of spider missing. Update From GRP: Was Yr Eifl, S1620, destroyed in 1961, moved just metres, and rebuilt as THE RIVALS in 1961 with same FB S1620. It is now a tertiary station.
