We'd been looking forward to this after enjoying our previous SB so much. We had the sketch from OS, although one or two significant points were missing on site. We searched in the right area and Ruth soon hit a concrete block with her walking pole, about the right size but with a chunk missing where we assumed the brass stud had been. Having photographed it, we were about to leave when Bren hit something else with his walking pole, just about 12 inches away. When we dug around the real SB was revealed. So, if you do this one make sure you see the real SB and not the "decoy".

We assume that it was totally overgrown and we could search no further due to the gate. Might see it in winter when the vegetation dies down, but it will not be properly accessible without trespassing.

Without doubt our best TP yet! On arrival we doubted we would ever find it, but Ruth carefully poked around with her walking pole and eventually struck good! It was an inch or so deep in mud and thick vegetation but after a little work we were able to clear enough to reveal the Block. What joy!!

We visited the locality, but could find nowhere to access the land where the pillar is supposed to be. We stopped on the nearby road; GPS was saying about 140m to the pillar, which would have put it beyond the line of vegetation across a field. Despite searching with binoculars we could not find the pillar.

We carefully traversed the muddy field to the pillar. During ploughing, mud had been pushed up the pillar obscuring the metal plate. We removed as much mud as our fingernails permitted, but not enough to uncover the number. The concrete has been damaged about halfway down one edge of the pillar, hence "slightly damaged".
