One person's vandalism is someone else's enhancement. I met the man who was instrumental in setting up the topograph. It was a millenium project; the locals felt that, as it is the highest point in Shropshire with glorious views, visitors should be helped to identify other landmarks. I quite like it and am not too sad about the missing column.
