Walked up to Hatterall Ridge via the fantastic Black Darren, then headed N to the pillar. Superb views on a beautiful day. Pillar about a metre or so on the Herefordshire side of the border, somebody has actually scratched "England" on it. Descend via Red Darren. Taken me a while to bag this one but was worth the wait. Also my first log in over a year, hopefully get back into the Trigpointing spirit!

Been on my to do list for years, today I dropped my lad off at Battle Lands paintball centre & walked down from there. Accessed pillar thanks to a kind Scottish guy at the nearby house, though to be fair it's easily accessible from the Common by ROW. Lovely views across the surrounding English & Welsh hills including the Black Mountains. Grey, overcast & slightly wet but that just added to the atmosphere. Walked around the Common, meeting some very friendly ponies! 181m

Revisit. The pillar has acquired a Welsh Dragon since my last visit. Walked up from Stone Circle, visited the trig, then followed the eastern flank before descending south to the Gospel Pass. Beautiful day with stunning views & fantastic company.

Walked up from Llanbedr, crossing the Grwyne Fechan river, up through steep woods before joining the excellent Beacon's Way. Slight diversion to bag Blaen yr Henbant (498m), then on to Crug Mawr. Amazing 360 views on a hot, sunny day & amazingly had it all to myself, bar the sheep & ponies! Been on my to-bag list for some years now, finally done :-)

Waun Fach, highest point in the Black M'tains, 811m. Great walk up via Y Grib from the west. Sadly, due to extensive repair work, the large stone/trig has now gone, just nothing there (that I could see). Chatted to a local lady, who was doing amateur radio, up there. She said that she could remember the pillar itself, years ago, but that the large stone had disappeared recently. Shame, the highest point in the Black M'tains deserves some sort of monument. Views good, we carried on to Pen y Gadair Fawr, at 800m is the 2nd highest point, and the 360 views here were superb. Nice weather, great day - apart from no trig!

Mynydd Merddin. 8km circular walk from Longtown. Ascended from Clodock to the SW. Quite steep, passing frisky cattle and a few missing FP signs. Great views, esp of the Black M'tains. Pillar just right of the path, good condition but no real views. Descended N to the road. Great weather.

Parked at lay-by opp the Bunch of Carrots pub. Joined the Wye Valley Walk from here heading W, then split from it by walking along an elevated embankment known as The Stank. This is a flood defence & presumably the block lies on or very near to it. Continued W until I rejoined the WVW, which I then followed E, thereby making a good circular walk. Nice views of the Wye, which was fast flowing. Sunny but cold with plenty of frost lasting all day in shaded spots. Lots of walkers & fishermen about.

St Marys priory church. Rebuilt in 1882 but retaining it's fine 14th C tower. And you're right Ted. The gravestone you mention is the John Renie Monument, which is indeed part puzzle! He died 1832, aged 33. Lovely historic town, the Kymin being one of my fave viewpoints. Birthplace of my Dad and it's where i learnt to drive. Infact the test centre was just round the corner from the church

Walked up from Hollybush, which i drive thru daily. No pillar here sadly, or evidence of one but there is a Memorial shelter, dated 1923, and the views are amazing, from the Black M'tains to the Cotswolds. Prev bagged this lovely hill in 2009. Always thought the nearby obelisk may be a trig. If you want the Malverns without the crowds then come here. Height 286m. NB Was listed as Pillar Destroyed when i bagged it, obviously incorrectly. Will return!

Long slog up from the east where i parked by the phone box. Fantastic 360 views from the top. Could make out the Clee Hills, Malverns, Forest of Dean, Black Mtns, Radnor hills etc. Nice pillar. Theres a mini cairn on top of it! Nice spot with just sheep for company. Saw friendly farmer on descent. A nearby milestone has a cut BM on it

Late 13th century tower. Building of the original church was founded by Walter de Lacy, who one day climbed the tower to check on the construction progress. He slipped, falling to his death and so never saw it completed. Another Hereford landmark, though i prefer the taller spire of All Saints.

St Mary and Ethlebert the King. At last! Its on here! I am a Ross boy but have lived in the city for a few years now. Only drove past it today, looking up at the flag pole on top, thinking that surely it must be a TP. Fine building, visited and photographed many times. I dunno how to add to the database but there must be lots more intersected stations, eg the Buttermarket, both in the city and county.

Easy,short stroll from the parking area, following the Cotswold Way. Interesting stone pillar. Fantastic views towards the Severn, Forest of Dean, Gloucester, May Hill, etc. I then retraced my steps but carried on to the toposcope, which at 748ft is higher than the trig. Beautiful sunny day, been on my to do list for some time. Now finally bagged!

Wow! I have been waiting for this magnificent building to appear on the database, cheers peregrinus! St Marys,dedicated in 1316.The 205ft spire was rebuilt in 1721. It was repaired in 1852 after a lightning strike,then further repairs carried out in 1911,1952 and recently. Three of the pinacles were replaced in 1986. The Prospect offers the famous view of the Wye and its horse shoe bend. Checkout the stone 'coffin' by the spire. I now live in Hereford but Ross will always be my home

Finally bagged this one! Was going to try it from the golf course but farmer in field. Then tried it from Mansel Lacy only to be greeted with PRIVATE signs. Eventually walkd it from Yarsop, following the same route as mickandshane. Nice walk, just overshadowed by much of it being a trespass. Still some snow up here. The daffs not out yet. Nice aroma of garlic. No shooting thankfully apart from the SAS at Credenhill. Assume the views must have been SW.

Long overdue revisit.What this mountain lacks in height is more than compensated for by walking its fabulous ridge & the stunning views. Low cloud today but on a clear day worth a 10/10 score in my book. Managed to slip on my *rse, covered in mud at the top! Not too cold up here thankfully. Descended the very steep north face, through the landslip then skirted the west side through woodland back to car. Fantastic

Long overdue revisit. Instead of parking up the hill i walked up from Longhope, following the Wysis Way from the Nags Head carpark. A short but stiff climb, passing some friendly sheep & dismantled railway line. A beautiful autumnal day so busy at the top. Had to wait for some children to get off the pillar before i could photograph it. Amazing views, glad i brought my binoculars this time. Could make out Pen y Fan in the distance. Always a wonderful place. Overheard a woman,who was pointing at the Severn, tell her friends that it was the Wye. Laughed to myself.

There is now a new information board at the bottom car park, which states that there is no public access to the top. I wonder if that was Dustys stick left propped up against the trig? Lots of round hay bales in the field.

Mynydd Machen. We have had a few lovely days in Caerphilly & saved this for our drive home. My cousin farms this hill so was able to park half way up. Joined the Sirhowy Valley Walk. Sadly there was some litter but thats not just confined to this hill. That aside the views on a clear sunny day like today are amazing. Simply superb. And despite its 362m height i can see why its called a mountain as it looks & feels like a small one. Best of a great bunch for us this week.

Drove most of the way from the north along forest track, just off the A4136 near Plump Hill. Counted 4 towers, the Fire Tower being the most southerly & by the look of it easily the oldest. Unlike the others it is possible to gain access to it. I always like to admire the view to Gloucester & the Severn from the Plump, though very cloudy today.

Revisit. What a lovely day to spend an hour or so on this great hill. There is now a beacon in the brick radio tracking station. Views superb today, all 360 degrees. Had to ring the owner of a very friendly but lost dog. Also revisited Garway church & Wilton Castle in Ross. Great day!

Nice views north to Exmoor,etc. Also looked at the stone circle but bit dubious about its age. 2nd TP of the day on route to Bideford Bay.

Parked by the church in Bosbury,which has a detatched tower, built circa 1235 & stands at a spot height of 67m. Walked north along lanes & RoW, including the Hfds Trail, with the company of the River Leadon for much of the time.Then up & through woodland on Beacon Hill to the farm.Just missed the farmer on his tractor.Pillar in sheep field just off FP.One of the best hedgerow trigs that i have so far bagged. Warm sunny day but views limited by haze. Thats all the Ledbury trigs done,bar 1

Great drive south from Llangadog.Stopped at Herberts Quarry viewpoint, looked at the David Davies Memorial then struck up the hill from the car park. Splendid views of The Black Mountain, Bristol Channel,Carmarthen Bay & River Towy valley. Large cairn. Great weather. Jacob carried his toy machine gun up. Very quiet up here. Parked just beyond the pub with the wheel clamping warning signs.Took the Severn Way then bridleway to trig & walkers bench. Great views of Cheltenham,Gloucester & Cotswolds to the south & east and to the Malverns,May Hill,Herefordshire & Black Mountains west & north.Continued along bridleway to farm where i turned right to rejoin the Severn Way for a circular walk back along the river bank & through woods. Very enjoyable.

Parsons Folly on kemerton Camp, built to take combined height to the magic 1000ft. Walked up from Bredon's Norton and returned via Westmancote, passing the King and Queen Stones. Fantastic views from Bredon Hill. Lovely place. There's also a toposcope and the Banbury, or Elephant, Stone at the 299m summit. Was not on the database at time of bag, entered 06/2011.

Walked up the fantastic Cats Back with Zoe. Warm,sunny day with amazing views.Then we carried on to re-visit Hay Bluff & returned via Offas Dyke path along Hatterall Ridge,finally descending the beatuiful Olchon Vally.Also bagged Little Black HIll at 394m. Feel proud that i live in the highest county in southern England (703m). NB - this is HIGHER than Dartmoor, which many people wrongly claim to be the highest point & I find this quite annoying!!
