Visited this trig after a wonderful family service at St Nic's, Durham. It was a bit of a slog getting there - we were thigh deep in snow drifts at times - but it was well worth the effort to be rewarded with such lovely views and fantastic winter lighting of a late sun on the snow. What a Christmas present!

Lovely autumn day. Trig was in a hedge running alongside a cricket ground which appeared to have it's gate locked. However, the gate was in fact open, so don't be put off trying to reach it. Plug with indented lettering.

Visited this wonderful small island on a beautiful sunny day. It was amazing...hence my first ever 10/10 score (like Craig Revel Horwood off Strictly Come Dancing, i don't hand them out easily!). The cliffs around the island were teeming with birdlife - puffins, arctic terns, guillemots, razorbills, skuas, fulmars, kittiwakes, all of which could be seen at close range. A heavenly day with the equally wonderful Bergfuehrer!

Nice to be able to visit this trig on a day trip to Cape Wrath. The minibus dropped us off only after we assured them that we would stay on the main track - oh dear, i don't like telling fibs, but what else could we do? We promptly climbed up Sgribhis-Bheinn to this nice stone pillar, but mist and drizzle descended giving us only glimpses of the views out to sea. Plug with indented lettering.

Coming to Scotland to bag this 'no logged visits' trig was my 50th birthday present off Bergfuehrer! We came in by car on a rough track to just south of Bowside Lodge. We then walked along a forest path and clearing, before finally crossing a stretch of open hillside. The views were expansive, though a bit hazy. This visit would definitely have scored higher if we had not been pursued relentlessly by hundreds of horse flies that have left me with some pretty nasty bites! Plug intact with indented lettering.

It would be easy to be confused by the array of mushroom-shaped domes at this meteorological station. We were lucky that an attentive member of staff spotted us creeping in the gates to get a closer look - he came over to ask what we were doing and then took us directly to the active station, which is cone-shaped.

Frustrated beyond measure! Went armed with photos and prodding gear and spent nearly 40 minutes digging up the earth, much to the astonishment of the man whose grass verge we were stabbing. Realised when we got home that we were actually on the wrong side of the road. Just hope the verge owner hasn't continued our search outside his house as he was very interested to see what we were talking about!

Lovely setting for this active station on the lifeboat station in the harbour of St. Abbs. Visited on a beautiful spring day, in the late afternoon sunshine, with the harbour to ourselves, before walking along the cliff path to see thousands of guillemots and a few dozen fulmars. Simply wonderful!

Nearly gave up looking for this FBM after searching for 15 minutes, but luckily trod on it at the last moment. It is raised only about 2 inches out of the ground so is difficult to spot in the grassy verge even at this time of year. Also had to contend with dozens of roaming hens. FBM is on a nice country lane but the location is spoilt by the noise from the nearby A19.

It took us about 90 minutes to find this new active station on The National Physical Laboratory. Initially, we latched on to the back of a group of employees at the entrance gate and brazenly walked past two burly security guards, but they caught up with us and asked us to leave the site. We then walked round the perimeter of the buildings via adjacent roads and through a park before spotting one (or maybe two?) new flat disc(s) on a pole (antenna type LEIAT504GG without a dome). You will need good binoculars if you want to see this station. The best views are from Coleshill Road (after leaving the park gate) and the gap between houses number 42 and 44.

After recent heavy rain, the bolt was under water. Being keen triggers, we considered taking off our shoes and wading in, but it was a bitterly cold day so we gave it a miss! It was a nice walk though from Richmond and we had good views back along the river to The Royal Star and Garter Home for ex-Service personnel.

What an exciting time Bergfuehrer and i had locating this new active station! We were armed only with a grid reference and OS map as we do not have GPS. When we had decided which group of buildings the station might be on, we sneaked on to the university campus without a pass and then into a secure building (scary!) so that we could look out of the windows on the stairwells of each floor at the nearby roofs. We saw nothing and were feeling pretty disappointed as we left the site after an hour or so of searching. But then we turned back for one final glance...and guess what...we saw a disc on a pole that we thought just might be the new active station. We were concerned that it did not look like the usual mushroom shape, but some subsequent homework has confirmed that the antenna type at Stratford is a TRM55971 without a dome. Yay - we found it!

We were thrilled to find this little rivet, especially as the light was fading fast. Unfortunately, i have to admit that Bergfuehrer got to it before i did...i was still searching on my hands and knees near the red bin when the cry of victory was heard! Anyway, the rivet might be small, but it is a little beauty and a very exciting find. For those of you who would like some help to find it, my photo shows Bergfuehrer standing on the very spot!

If you want to see this pillar in situ, then you will need to visit pretty promptly as the land it sits on is about to be developed. From the look of the nearby JCBs, the trig could be uprooted in the next few days! For now, the trig is surrounded by a prison, an industrial estate, the busy and noisy A19, and ICI pollution from the Billingham works...maybe trig heaven is looking like a better location after all! For what it is worth, the plug is still there with indented lettering.

Unexpectedly spotted this blue triangle on the OS map whilst heading North on the A46. Parked at track entrance to an area managed by the Wetlands Trust. My first visit to a trigpoint - introduced by Bergfuehrer! Beautiful sunny autumn day, with snow showers over Whitby. 360 deg views of moorland and sea. Close up of stonechat and red grouse. Plug missing. But, all in all, a fantastic first trigpoint!
