Well, I thought this would be a scush, especially given the excellent photos and descriptions from previous baggers. Arrived at the locus only to discover the ground had set like concrete due to the excessive dry spell we’ve been experiencing. Our little trowel was not up to the task and after a bit of prodding, we gave up. Hey ho.

My first 'Cut', and my 100th OS Trig Point that is not a pillar. My 100th at TP0100...feeling very afflicted by my obsessive mind!

I found it! In the pouring rain with gale force wind! Metal cover largely buried but relevant edge still clear. A few wipes with a handful of grass soon showed the cut mark. High score for rarity factor.

The manhole cover was largely covered over, but the relevant edge was free.

Easy spot due to previous logs. Had to dig away an accumulation of soil/turf etc.

N side of road with parking in gateway opposite. Back right corner of cover still exposed with cross and punch mark easily seen. Well done CJO.

Not listed on OS website on trigmark database. Dug out the inspection cover as previous visitors. Could not see any evidence of bolt on corner of slab. Noted the corner of the inspection cover had red paint as previously observed by fasgadh, brushed debris aside and noted a cut cross and centre punch mark on back right corner of inspection cover. This MUST be the trigmark!!

The sketch shows it as the back right corner of an inspection hatch. Uncovered the thing, well buried due to it being on a cattle milking route. No sign of any rivet or bolt, except a patch of paint on the relevant piece of the cover. Is the cover corner the fixed point? Had to leave as the cows were on their way back.
