OS records this destroyed May 1974. Nothing left of the pier now, although there is a marker in the sea at approx the same spot which may be a shipping hazard mark.

Long gone - reported destroyed May 1974.

Pier Dome does this mast indicate the navigation hazard for the old pier remains?

On the sea wall below the Turner Contemporary the GPS indicated that this trig was about 350m out to sea which is where the end of the pier was. There is some kind of mast out there probably in the same location. The history of Margate Pier is well-documented elsewhere, it suffered severe storm damage in January 1978 and the remains were demolished.
