The pillar stands in sheep grazed rough grassland in a wind farm on top of a hill to the east of Aberystwyth. Its base is exposed by about six inches and it lacks a cap or plug. There is a crack around the trig at FB height but it appears to be structurally sound. It has FB S5479. Parking is possible where the wind farm service road meets the minor road to the north west or on a lay by on the A44 a little further along the Borth to Devilís Bridge Trail footpath. When visited on the previous morning cloud was blowing up the nearby valleys and most of the surrounding hills were shrouded in cloud and mist. Today was a lot clearer and there was a wide view over Cardigan Bay to the west with the misty hills of the Lleyn Peninsula and North Pembrokeshire on the horizon. There was a large view of rolling green mountains and ridges in other directions although cloud was still sitting on the summit of Plynlimon to the north east. There was a constant hum and whooshing noises emanating from the nearby turbines.

Another wonderfull area desecratd by the progress of windfarms, the short drive off the A44 should be a reminder that its not just a white turbine that is necessary for "green" energy. Have to hedge the damaged mark looking at the area around the flush.

Pillar ,turbine and the proper view behind!

Still good at the moment but there is a nasty crack forming that circles the pillar, Have to say I prefer these windmills to those I started out with this morning far quieter and no incessant whine.

Lovely morning! Great views alround from here except for the 8 wind turbines - there will soon be more of these than sheep! The plug is missing but the tribracket is fine. There is a repair at the base of the flush bracket. The pillar stands about a foot high from the grass in a slight hollow.
