Pulled over in small roadside car park about a half a mile north east of Batheaston along the Fosse Way. From there headed west of south across the Common. After about four hundred metres there was a clump of trees and a man walking his dog. Asked if he knew where the TP was, it was about ten metres away, under a tree in the copse. On a ridge of ground, a steep drop to a ditch immediately to west. Cap plugged. Raised S prefix. No views. Trying to rain at the time.

It was interesting to see how little view there now is from the trigpoint, due to the trees. We took the old path from the lay by to the south.

Bath is full of hills and this is the first of three i need to climb if i am to bag all ten TP i planned to do today. So rather disappointing views, considering the height. FB number does not have S in front of it. See picture. This is only the second 4 digit FB i have seen like this.

#443 P#249 P2016#49. Parked in space for one car on road and followed signposted muddy track and then reached the pillar. At edge of woodland at edge of grassy area.

Fairly easy to find from parking area at the top of the hill - popular local dog walking area!

Low score as woodland prevents any views from here. Good footpaths up from Batheaston. We parked near Brown's Folly first to bag the HuMp, Bathford Hill, then up to Bannerdown for this trig and finally across to Little Solsbury Hill for another trig. Some interesting walking along the streets of Bath and back and forth over the River Avon made for a longish but pleasant walk.

Logged at a lunch stop on way back from Wales. Somewhat sheltered from view in a clump of trees although it is at the edge. Surprising when so much of site is still grassland. Views are rather limited in vicinity even more so close to trig. Almost forgot S on number is above the numerals.

There is a handy parking spot next to the footpath due S of the pillar ,the path takes you out on Open access land within 50ft of the pillar.

Had real difficulty finding this pillar as it has been engulfed by brambles and my OS may wasn't really too clear about its exact position. There is a resin plug replacement. Some traces of paint visible if you look carefully! It was too overgrown to see if any of the sightholes were open. No real views in any direction due to trees. Came face to face with a small muntjac deer on the way to the pillar which was rather nice.

Visited on a bike ride from Bradford on Avon taking in Rainbow Wood and Bathhampton Down. It was the most difficult of the 3 to find. Why were all 3 relatively hidden away in bushes, I ask myself ?
