Parked at the limekiln to the north. Access land closed for several weeks, footpath only. Great views in most directions, the dig at the Vindolanda roman site to the west is visible from the footpath.

Our friend Humpty was visiting us so took him on a bit of a tour of Hadrian's Wall in Northumberland and took the opportunity to knock off a couple of trigs. Parked up at the excellent Lime Kiln and followed the FP up Barcombe until the pillar came into view, then nipped across the summit. Fantastic views all around. It was Humpty's first bagged trig. Had to negotiate some friendly Belted Galloways in the field on the way back. Beer in the Twice Brewed Inn afterwards.

My second visit, different route. Parked in West End Town and followed ROW N across Thorngrafton Common to the TP, returning via the Standing Stone a short distance along the ridge to the W. Great views N, E & S...views W obscured by an incoming squall of filthy weather, which gave us an absolute soaking on the way back down to the car!

8th of 13 trigs bagged along Hadrian's Wall hike. Walked down from the Wall path to The Sill in Once Brewed, then follow sign to Vindolanda. Go to the end of the road up a steep hill past Vindolanda, turn left and follow road uphill to just before crossroads at Limekiln. A style to your right and a footpath straight up to the trig. It's about 2.8 miles from the Wall path. Beautiful vista. You can see Vindolanda, the Wall path over the crags, Sycamore Gap, the Penninines and more. Plug intact.

Had planned to do this as part of a longer 3 Trig circular, but having not bagged a new TP in a month and having to go for an appointment in Hexham this seemed a suitable diversion. It was also the first TP for the newest member of our family, 'Watson', a 4 month old Italian Spinoni. I was expecting great views N back to the wall, however was not expecting such fantastic views S over Tynedale. For a relatively low hill, this TP has much to commend it!

A very enjoyable hop up from the road after visiting Vindolanda in the heart of Wall Country. Lots of Roman vibes around here and a little bit further on at Long Stone, where there was a Roman Signal Station. From up here you get a great aerial perspective of the ancient settlement.

Parked at the nearby limekiln and nipped up from the road. Very accessible. Fantastic views all round from Trig. An excellent spot but very breezy and damp today. Did this after a day walking along the Wall. Great views to Hadrians Wall, Cold Fell and lots of Northumberland! Did this after noticing it on the map after a couple of pints and a great bread and butter pudding in The Twice Brewed Inn.

The LongStone A nearby anchient trigpoint perhaps?
