Parking and route as per jonglew. Unfortunately for me the rough pasture today had cows and calves in it so had to tread warily. Trig is lower than the adjacent cairn. Good view.

Parked just into access road to Blairbuy Farm, by the bins (NX 3557 4188). Walked through farm to field gate at NX 3670 4212, across rough pasture to hop wall at NX 3705 4207 then across very rough pasture/gorse to top. Lovely summit with extensive views over Luce Bay. Pillar retains original centre cap, raised lettering; rear sight hole open, L & RHD side plugs degrading.

P small CP at W edge of village, track through Blairbuy & up to approach from NW through some trees, mostly skirting gorse. Back down via Stellock track.

Upto farm then across field to hill

Parked on minor road to the west then walked up track towards Blairbuy Farm. Continued on track to use gate to access track towards gorse covered hillside some of which had recently been burnt. Going was mucky in places.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 4th March 1955 costing £17.12s.0d. Levelled for height in 1956. Computed as tertary triangulation station NX56/DM/T5 by distomat survey within the Kirkcudbright block during 1958. Last maintained by the OS in July 1976. SITE VISIT: Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with weathered raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces northeast, ~38°. Vented through NW and SW sight holes. Overtopped by large cairn at summit. Views include Carleton Fell and Merrick.
