Drove logging road past Barmark Fm to NX 7453 7908. Lot of the forest has been clear felled, but break WSW still worth taking to avoid brash, then cut up through forest as easier then taking the ride past lookout post. Pillar sits just outwith the forest, there is a patina of fine hair fractures to the screed on all faces. Centre cap missing, no plug. Front sight hole open

Parked at farm to SE up track to first fire break then right at lookout passed cairn and on to trig

all intact mossy. Same route as Rob, but cut corner on way back which led to some tree bashing and a slight navigation error. Would have been quicker to keep to fire breaks.

HISTORY: Pillar completed 26th February 1954 costing £18.13s.6d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NX99/T2 in 1954. Levelled for height also in 1954. Last maintained by the OS in May 1988. SITE VISIT: In a clearing in woods. Pillar in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces southeast, ~104°. Vented through sight hole on FB face. No view due to surrounding woods.

Network of shallow cracks. Metal cap, deep letters. Forest road beyond Barmark, rushy ride SW to lookout tower then NW via cairn to trig in clearing.
