Having read the previous comments, I set out from the Thorpe Park retail centre to check if this pillar had been dumped in a hedgerow or on a field boundary. I quickly revisited TP1708 Brown Moor en route, and then set off on the recently updated ROW towards Shippen House Farm. I passed a suspiciously trig-like concrete structure at SE 38798 34266, but it wasn't to be. After searching the assorted rubble in the lane and adjacent to the farm, I followed the Leeds Country Way all the way up to Barnbow Wood - checking all the hedges and possible dumping grounds. Keeping to the field edges, I passed within a few feet of the trig site - it's definitely gone - and then back via Penda's Fields and Lazencroft Farm and the newly-diverted ROW over the new motorway link. Having fairly comprehensively searched the area, this pillar has either been destroyed or moved to the farm yard; the logical next step would be to go and knock on the farmer's door. But it was Sunday lunchtime, and I wasn't about to pester a man who has deliberately removed a block of concrete from his field. Very very wet and muddy walk all round, but certainly worthwhile to silence any doubts.

One of the nearest to home that I had never attempted, so once I read the last log I felt devastated to have missed out, but determined to investigate the murder. I approached from the incredibly muddy footpath to the W up a short field boundary and easily into the trig field. Nothing there.....I started looking for if it had been just moved when suddenly shots rang out from Barnbow Wood and I was off. I returned to the path to the W and walked S, over the footbridge to Manston House. Just in the yard before the road, was that the pillar on it's side? Maybe the next visitor could have a look perhaps please? Interesting start to 2018!
