Was located in a large compound here with a mass of other instrumentation and monitoring equipment. Its replacement has been installed outwith the compound, 100m SE.

Active station LERW, as seen on an OS list dated 2008. It once stood in the fenced rear compound of the Met Office outside Lerwick (picture at, but it stopped operating in 2010 (see ) and has since been removed. I walked from the roadside at HU 4522 3969 through howling wind and rain, visiting active station LERI (TP7731) before doubling back to look at where LERW once stood. There are some strange MOD marker stones nearby.
