Lovely sunny but cold morning for a circular walk down from Kithurst Hill CP, and onwards back to that trig. Great all round views, including Blackpatch and Kithurst Hills, and Butser Hill, the coast and the IoW further away. Base is rather eroded out by the sheep, and S s/hole open, but still has metal cap with shallow letters, and is otherwise in excellent condition.

Decided we would approach this one from the south. Drove down Blakehurst Lane and parked at the car park at the end, nice walk through the Angmering Park Estate then headed north, passed some farm buildings and dwellings to be met by a wonderful view of the south downs walk, Kithurst, Rackham trigs that we had done several weeks previous. To the left we could clearly see Blackpatch trig as it stands out on top of its hill. Walked up a little further to the left, over a gate and higher up into the field with sheep, and there it was in all its glory. Fantastic views all around all the way to Bignor Beacon and the Midhurst transmitter. It was nice to see the SDW from the south and very clearly visible is the walk you could take across the top, worth the trip to this one on a nice day. Trig in good condition, and yes the base is eroded.

A good day for a visit. Plenty of sunshine, and a great walk up from The Dover car park, near the A27, through woods full of Bluebells. When I arrived on site there were about 30 walkers gathered around the pillar having a break. Left them to it for a while until they moved off. I then had the site to myself. Good views all around, including towards Blackpatch Hill (TP1456) whose pillar I could see through binoculars.

I'm writing this in Aug 2018 having just dug out some old maps and found notes on a few trigs I did 20+ years ago before I even realised this site existed! I have only vague memories of this yomp, which included three trigs, but the yellow highlighted symbols on my 1994 Landranger are ticked and there's blue highlighter indicating route completed, so it was done. I'm estimating the date as being in the early Summer of 1997, when I clearly did a lot of trigging, mainly recorded in my (sadly lost) little blue book!
