I parked at the side of the road at HU 3557 7739 and walked up the nearby track to the south. After passing a barn and some partly-completed foundations of another building I struck out across the grassland directly towards the summit of the Hill of Bardister, disturbing several wild geese and sheep along the way. A single fence crossing took me over to the wild moor and a few metres away a prominent concrete block. The 'bolt' is a simple metal shaft but the protruding part has become bent and part of it appears to have sheared off. Great views of Gluss Isle and - if you like that sort of thing - the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal. Ungam Beacon (TP8865) and the replacement for Ness of Sound Lighthouse (TP9647) are both visible from here on a good day.
