Drove access road to farm/houses, verge parking. Pillar sits just in front of a trimmed thorn hedgerow; original centre cap retained, deeply indented letter; front sight hole plug degrading, others not checked.

Short walk up a neat tree lined drive and trig on the right in the hedge but easy to see.

Parked on the hardstanding adjacent to the golf practice area and walked back to the trig. Decent views across to the Cheviots however we didn't linger long due to the approaching monsoon!

Drove to Birgham and took the minor road north parking in a layby beyond Bartle Hill. Walked uphill and found this pristine trig nestled in the hedgerow. Spider intact. It commands great views to the SE. OS Map shows a building behind this trig. Not seen. Now a mini golf course.

Unplanned bonus 'bag' to finish the day, on way home from Linton Hill & Sweethope Hill. Really interesting to a see some of the earlier pictures with the big barn behind the TP to the North, now replaced with a practice golf hole! As recently as 2011 'The Cyclist' described a "new barn" but there's not a trace of it now. The earliest photo here (2003) shows the barn, but its gone by Borderer's photo from Sept 2015. The absence of the barn makes the view North considerably more appealing!

Third visit. Drive by pillar with public access. Park anywhere near top avoiding obstruction to communal road. Pillar in good condition, in hedge on NW side of drive to farm. Spider retains original OS cap with deep indented lettering. FB faces SE ~146° across road.

In the hawthorn hedge on the northern side of the approach to Bartlehill Farm not far from the Eccles-Birgham road. Decent views south over the Merse to the Cheviots.

First visit. To record FB number. The pillar was completed 13th December 1952 costing £12.11s.6d. In 1953 the flush bracket was levelled for height. This marker was computed for triangulation as tertiary station NT72/T3 in the Jeburgh secondary block in 1957. The trig point was last maintained by the OS in September 1986. In a hedge on north side of drive, FB faces across roadway.
