Approached from Barton Stacey. Roadside trig, painted white but with some bits flaked off. There is a wooden bench next to the trig, dedicated to Paul Fakes (1971 - 2005). I wonder if the family of Mr Fakes are the caretakers of this trig? Trig in good condition, asphalt plug, FB faces the road. I left a 2p coin in the rear sight hole (opposite side from the FB) for the next visitor to find.

In reflective mood following the death yesterday of one of my favourite writers Iain Banks. Took a series of 'Great Wee Roads' (see his book Raw Spirit: In Search Of The Perfect Dram, for symbolism) to get to this trigpoint which is beautifully cared for - freshly painted white, and recently mowed 'lawn' - I wonder who is the caretaker? Apparently, Iain Banks loved driving all over Scotland, and would map his routes with various coloured pens, (much as I do all of my walks)- I like to think that he visited a trig or two. And, most impressively, he was a Greenock Morton fan - he'll be much missed.
