Back to log this one having missed out when doing a cycle out from Parsley Hay and bagging Harboro Rocks. Walked up pretty much directly from the South using the track and PROW then heading past the black tank in the direction of the TP. Really long grass this time of year but on a really nice summers day its a good trade off. Seemed to have been admiring the views of Carrsington Res all day as this was 4/5 on the day. All metal work intact but evidence of repairs to the top surface in the past.

First of three trigs with my mate, Tracker Dog, who now enjoys trighunting. Missed the trig by walking too far to the west and hence lower down the slope so couldn't see it, until we doubled back. Good views, surprising amount of active noisy quarrying, but at least it gives locals jobs. What's the strange storage tank all about nearby?

From Middleton along Hillside to pick up PROW onto Middleton Moor. No need to climb any walls for this one. Just follow farmer's track NW from PROW at SK271553 to a large black storage tank. Where the track bears left infront of this tank you should instead parallel the wall on your right to a metal gate (which was open when I visited). You will then see the top of the pillar which is easily reached across a field of long grass. Trig is in good order with metal cap. Pleasant enough views with Carsington Water easily visible but quarries are never too far away either. To the person that commented on one of my recent 'rants' about quarries spoiling the views - yes, I know we need the materials and they provide valuable jobs in the area but that doesn't mean I have to like looking at them !!
