4th visit to add a GPS reading to our own records, the primary objective of the day being 'Where can go for some Trig Point fun without getting filthy muddy in the quagmire the entire countryside has become?". Grey and overcast but the air was clear and the views S as extensive as ever. ~~ 20/08/20 3rd visit. Lovely clear views today.

Many thanks to the owners of the farm and holiday cottage complex for the friendly welcome to those visiting the summit and trig. We drive down the drive and park close to the trig pillar, a lot of cars around today.

2/8 trigs today. I rang the owner Alun, for permission to visit this trig and he kindly said yes and informed me that he has logged permission on this site (which I wasn't fully aware about at the time.) Once again can I reiterate that there is no need to park on the roadside verge (wherever that is!) Drive up the drive and park in one of the first two car parks on your left and once parked, walk due south for about 50 yards to the trig. It has a marvellous view…bring a picnic if you want and enjoy the views from this place that I am lucky enough to own.

Roadside verge parking just E of entrance to the upmarket holiday park (NZ 1464 9157). Walked in, people milling around, but likely all on holiday as no challenge. Pillar retains original centre cap, lightly indented lettering; RHD side sight hole open, LHD side plug degrading.

At the end of a Glamping site. The only way to find without hopping fences is to follow the road down to the glamping pods. Trig point is just past the phone box. Great view over the valley from the Trig

Thank you Mr Moore for giving permission on this Trigpointing website. What a difference it makes not feeling like you are trespassing or having awkward conversations with the landowner. Is Beacon Hill the most popular name for a trig? (14 of them)

Parked just outside the farm / spa entrance. Walked up the drive and around to the trig.

Followed advice from previous logs and entered the complex. Parked at the Spa Parking sign and walked past the telephone box uphill. All of about 50m. There it is. Pillar shows last vestiges of white paint on the side facing south. Spider intact.This complex has cottages to let, a tennis court, mini putting/croquet green and a spa. Who would have thought this to exist between Netherwitton and Longhorsley!

Extra point for ease of access. After reading Alun's instruction to drive into complex and walk over to trig , I did just that. Parked near telephone box on site, it's than a short walk over to trig point on lawn area.

27/09/18 - Second visit. Only time I tried to get Watson to pose on top of a TP. Not a great success. 01/11/16 - Possibly unique TP due to being positioned on a croquet lawn?? Fantastic clear autumn day, superb visibility - the views south were extensive.

Wish that I had read the previous posting and took the owner up on his kind invitation to this pillar before my visit. As it was I made my way along the footpath from the east to a point close to the pillar. Pillar in good condition with great views to the south. Will hopefully visit again.

I own Beacon Hill Farm. It is private property but if you are interested in visiting trig 1097 you are very welcome. Drive up the drive and park in one of the car parks and then walk past the croquet lawn to the Trig. If you are lucky there will be a stunning view to the south and if you walk around the crown of the hill you can see Cumbria, Tyne and Wear, Durham, and the Cheviot Hills and Roxburghshire. Trig in holiday homes complex, very nice grounds with spa etc. Trig on lawned area which is set up as a croquet pitch (if that is the correct term). Very posh indeed. I drove almost all the way to the trig (as Stan Toon did). Visited the trig with Mrs Trig and Grandson Trig. Actually babies first trig! Very nice views, nice complex. A few people around but no one questioned us.

Approached via PROW from the east...note this has been diverted and now leaves the road on the southern edge of Beacon Hill wood. Trig visible from PROW by standing on gate!

It is a long slog uphill to reach Beacon Hill on a bike whichever direction you come from, but what a charming situation at the edge of the holiday cottages, next to the croquet lawn. On the road bike combined with a visit to Hedley Hill TP.

Last trig (and cache) of the holiday! Stopped by on our way around geocache GCG5TF (Views from Beacon Hill). From what we could tell from the footpath, the trigpoint was situated on the village green, just next to a road. Guess it could actually have been part of the holiday location, but there were no signs on the gate to dissuade entry. Friendly horses in nearby field.

The Trigpoint is placed in the ground of Beacon Hill farm which is a holiday location I was staying at. You may be able to view this trig with permission but should not go there otherwise. Fantastic views are all around. You may be able to see the trig from the near by footpath.

Trig pillar in good condition. Spider retained OS cap. White painted flush bracket on northwest face. Probably one of the smartest settings for a trig pillar. Well kept green. Visited and photographed 16/05/2000, GRP.
