My second Beacon Hill in as many trigspeditions. I must have about half a dozen of them by now. No beacon on this one - or indeed the last one! What this one does have, though, is a truly spectacular view in every direction. Easily accessed from a convenient free car park - the first of three extremely enjoyable bags in the Quantocks.

Parked in the Staple Plantation Car Park. Took the footpaths from there up to the summit of Beacon Hill and the pillar. There were horses around at the summit, but they ignored me. The cap is missing

A superb viewpoint of the Quantocks, across to Exmoor on the west, and the levels on the east. Nice to have a view of the sea too. I stopped here and had lunch even though it was in freezing December conditions.

Up from the Staple Plantation car park and then an afternoons traverse of the Quantock Ridge to Bagborough, via Black Hill - a rare 3 Pillar walk - delightful. Then all the way back again in gloomy and wet conditions...less delightful.

A morning's walk up from the car park at Holford with an old friend, Bob, taking in this one and Black Hill. Unfortunately the mist was down so no views to be had from this summit, but a most enjoyable walk was had.

This was my third visit to this trig point , my last visit was about 25 years ago. Walk up from car park near Staple plantation. The view is not quiet as good now due to the new power station construction.

Pleasant 12 mile walk on the Quantocks from Holford, walked up onto Dowsborough, along to Wills Neck (Bagborough) trig, along to Black Hill trig and onto Beacon Hill trig, back down to Holford. Dismal misty weather with rain, We should have been walking in the Scottish Highlands this week but the weather was so bad up there we ended up here instead.

Walked up from the west. Pillar has had a patchy coat of paint since last logger. There is some minor chipping to top edges; original cap missing, no plug; all sight holes open. Morning mist prevented what must be a fine panorama; some views glimpsed to N and W looked extensive.

The most Northerly of the 3 on the Quantock ridge; lovely place, nice weather too; hail, wind & rain, just as it should be ! Nice views (normally) across the Bristol Channel, including the local beauty spot of Hinkley Point nuclear power station. Short walk up from the car park just beyond West Quantoxhead.
