The trig sits inside a broad prickly hedge between an arable field and the summit of the B3157 between the villages of Burton Bradstock and Swyre. The pillar lacks a cap or plug and has FB S5886. There is dodgy parking in a gateway a little to the west. The pillar was reached by crawling into the hedge. It would once have possessed a fine panorama. From the road the coast can be seen from the hazy headlands of South Devon in the southwest across Lyme Bay to Portland in the southeast. From the field there is a fine, wide view northwards taking in the green hills of West Dorset including Shipton Hill to the north. The nearby nature reserve and footpaths would be a far easier, safer and altogether more sensible way of enjoying the views in the locality.
