Slightly damaged atop a cairn on top of two Bronze Age burial mounds. It had a notice taped to it warning us not to damage the mounds any further. Lovely views. Tarmac plug. We were mobbed by a lapwing on the way there and back, probably protecting her nest.

Up from the lane and track to the north. A local told me the cairn wasn’t there when they erected the pillar in 1949, so I worked out that, on average, one person has added one stone every other day for 60 years to build it.

I was fortunate to be here on a beautiful sunny day, what a lovely place. The trig looks a bit sad though, damaged at the top and its not the highest thing around, its having to take second place to a big cairn.

Fantastic views on a clear day but inhospitable if the weather's against you and I seem to just get the extremes, today was awful with wind, mist and low cloud swirling and no view worth mentioning (hence the photo's aren't up to much). Top of the trig is a little damaged. No Cars, On Foot!!
