Parked at the entrance to the farm drive, quite wide so enough space. Easy walk up to the trig over newly planted crops, nice touching plaque makes up for the lack of decent views

Parked at entrance of farm track, walked the track passing the farm ,walked up field to trig. A few memorials on it

(2681) First time trigging in County Durham. Main road for parking, and then 10 minutes or so along the bridleway brings you nearly to the pillar. Though situated in a field, fortunately this has been harvested, so no problems getting close today. Even with the recent rain, the going was fairly good - though I did manage drop my phone in a puddle. No damage there thankfully. Pillar has a pronounced lean to it, and is adorned with a memorial plaque. Around the base are several grave decorations. Centre cap is missing and has been filled in. All else appear to be in good condition. Pillar history: Built on the 24th of November 1947, at a cost of £5 9s 0d. Last maintained by the OS in September of 1996.

Someone has screwed a brass plaque on it and surrounded it with grave decorations. The cross does add something to the scene of desolation in the wider vicinity. “I lift up my eyes to the hills”. Sage advice in many ways.

An easy bagger. Parked in layby next to Beaumont Hill Farm and the public bridleway sign. A 10min walk to the pillar. Unable to reach close up due to new crop growth. Pillar located next to a wind turbine. Appears to have a couple of cross plaques situated at base of this trig.

Approached as close as I wanted to, due to the crop. Marked as slightly damaged due to the lean, but otherwise seemed in reasonable condition and easily visible as I approached along the track from the S. Cross still in place next to TP

The leaning pillar - revisit (preivous not logged) - seems to be tilted more than last time (5mths ago). Cycled from High Copelaw Farm. Recently planted crop, so asked permission - no problems. Views excellent last time (Eston Nab, Roseberry Top, Carlton Bank, Penhill, etc)- a bit grey today, so not as good. NB 4327 is prime.

Pillar leaning but otherwise stable. Spider centre plugged with tar. Flush bracket faces ESE, ~114°. Vented through NW sight hole. 360° open outlook.

Logged from a distance in the middle of oats almost ready to harvest. Will go back later when crop has been taken. Still leaning even from a distance. Saw a roe deer on the way back to car parked in the reservoir access.

Friendly Farmer pointed out his 'stone' The Pillar has certainly suffered a decent whack, hence; slight damage.. cap asphalted and the roots are exposed with only West sight open.
