Parked at the end of the road to the south west of Greenknoll Farm. Walked up the public right of way / footpath to the location where the pillar used to be. The grid reference is in the middle of a big hole in the Bee Low Quarry! The pillar was destroyed in April 1966. The flush bracket number is the same as the one used on the pillar at Jodrell Bank. According to Keith Stevens and Peter Whittaker in their book, 'Peak District Trigpointing Walks', "when the quarry at Bee Low threatened the pillar, [the flush bracket number] was reused.....at Jodrell Bank." The fifth of 5 pillars today in and around Whaley Bridge.

Location Just beyond this point is the cliff edge into the quarry at the point closest to the grid reference given for the pillar. The mist was too thick to see into the quarry itself
Aerial Photo The grid reference for where the pillar used to be is highlighted by a red circle

1/2 visited today on a short pedal from home. I have decided that I am not visiting the site of ones destroyed, if I pass close by and within site of the location then that is good enough for me. I gift todays to the songs on youtube that are rewritten to address the mess we are in. Very funny.
