I was challenged by the security guard, but his eyes quickly glazed over when I talked of trigpoints. No problem getting a photo. The tower housed the big Van-de-Graff generator, now decommissioned, and the tower is used now to help with aircraft navigation. The Google Earth view shows the bolt on the SW rim, and the vane on the edge of the NE (stair/lift?) shaft. It's clear on the photo, so I'm claiming it as bagged

SD80 040 VANE and BOLT. It is probably wishfull thinking but there may be the remains of a vane hidden in the mass of masts/ lightning conductors and microwave dishes on the tower. Access to bolt not sought!

Daresbury Laboratory Tower is the vane there?
