HISTORY: Pillar completed 30th April 1958 costing £8.12s.1d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NG24/T52 and levelled for height to Class 2 precision during 1959. Last maintained by the OS in April 1978. SITE VISIT: Approached from southeast. Parking in entrance to forest track at NG414436. Followed maped track almost to its end where a small sign mark "Trig Point" points the way up a muddy path through the trees that leads to the summit. Large clearing in woods. Vanessa in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented letters. Flush bracket faces ESE, compass measurement 116°. All four sight holes open, vanessa bolt viewable. Easy enough walk to this Vanessa pillar. Take the forest track all the way to the end, do not be tempted to turn off until you see the trigpoint sign. Then a short section of boggy, muddy ground following a firebreak to the trig. Charlie's first outing in the carrier due to his forced rest after a knee operation.

Got this on second attempt after tried to be ambitious initially and navigated to base of hill inaccessible due to heavy forest. Took the forest walk the next day and at end of forest road, a helpful sign directed me to the trig. very peaceful with all round view.
Clearing through dense forest reveals trig approach to trig after emerging from forest
View of trig towards Cuillins Cuillin Hills seen in background
Helpful sign still there Sign left at end of road. Many thanks

Cylindrical trig, metal cap deep letters, vgc. Grassy summit amidst spruce & heather, OK view. Rides marked on 1:25k lead to trig.

The first trig I have visited where the route to the trig has a signpost!
