From the minor road to the West following track to masts then across open moorland. Another fine viewpoint. Someone had etched some 'artwork' into the cap

HISTORY: Pillar completed 18th June 1958 costing 24.14s.7d. Computed as secondery triangulation NG24/35 within the Skye block during 1958. Levelled for height to Class 2 precision also in 1958. Last maintained by the OS in April 1978. SITE VISIT: Approached from WSW. Parked in wide entrance to track which leads to comms masts at NG434412. Followed mapped track up to southeast masts. From there it was a beeline route which descends over boggy ground before climbing again. Open grazing hill with wind shelter at top. Vanessa in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with raised large narrow letters. Flush bracket faces NNE, compass measurement 19. Vented through left (SE) sight hole. Full 360 panoramic view includes Storr, Chumhaing, Ben Tianavaig, Dun Caan, Beinn Na Seamraig, Meall A Mhaoil, Beinn na Caillich, Glamaig, Blaven, Bruach Na Frithe, Beinn A Bhraghad, An Cruachan, Roineval, Skridan, Ben Duagrich, Torr A Chruidh. Other features to the west were not visible due to a sunlit haze.

Vanessa with raised lettering good quality casting with all good quality letters. Feel like making a circular former to come back and make a trig top plaster cast.

Cylindrical Vanessa pillar within a stone built shelter cairn, plug intact and appear in vgc. Followed Trig Point Walks on the Isle of Skye by Ian Stewart & Alistair Christie route via left hand sided single transmisson tower. Not a short and easy tramp for me across boggy wet moorland. Glad we've recently had a nice dry spell!! Returned by double transmisson towers which involved less tramping in the peaty, boggy ground. Views outstanding in 360 degrees so all in all well worth the visit.

Up the track to the mast and first Tump, Skriaig then along to the trig and Marilyn in an hour. Then contour back to lower mast and track back to the start.

Mr TJR asked as we were driving to Skye 'will we always go to Skye for our wedding anniversary?" - I replied without hesitation 'yes until I've bagged all the trigpoints", he thanked me for my honesty. Another one in the bag here, with no route finding clues in any logs here, we headed up to the masts and then took a beeline, 1.2km of hard going boggy, rutted ground. Great views and couldn't spot any damage on this Vanessa, looked in good condition?
