Of the four intersected stations, this appeared to be the only one where the coordinates matched a transmitter that is still in place. It is also the only one still listed as present in the OS data.

On the basis that one of these might be an intersection took some time looking around. Interesting to see that one genuine intersection remains, whilst the others have been replaced. Trailing flowers, a stream of dense greys threaten storms but the hot sun remains.

See these masts everyday from the town and to me seeing them on the M5 is a sign I am nearly home. Parked up opposite them today while out hunting a new geocache on the hill.

The trig is the last surviving mast used as an intersected station in a compound on the edge of a hill to the north east of Cheltenham. It is one of a pair of masts computed on the site in 1981, replacing a couple of trig masts in the area reported as destroyed the previous year. It shares the compound with two other non-trig masts. There is a car park next to the compound allowing access to the adjacent Cleeve Common. The common was a very pleasant location for an evening stroll. It was full of birdsong and there is a good view over Cheltenham from near the masts. The grassland of the common is a SSSI and the area is within the Cotswold AONB.

Viewed from The Ring (TP6420) & Cleeve Hill (TP0007). There are currently 3 masts on the site, this being the only one of those still standing which was used by OS. Identification at a distance is not easy, however it is the shortest and most open-framed ('flimsiest-looking') of the three.
