From Gairletter along the forest track. Another track goes left not long after the waterfalls. Up that to a gate, over that, track bends right following pylons. Stronchullin hill done first then across tussocky grass to summit trig. True summit is 60m N. Returned pretty much the same way. Flush Bracket missing

As others have said, no cap, plug or flush bracket. Evidence of cement repair on FB side. Spider stands proud. This is definitely damaged. No views.

Finding the same as Chalky after less six weeks. Mist in and out so I was afforded partial views of Sligrachan Hill.

Overall approach from SSW. Parked in forest car park at NS145864. Crossed unmapped footbridge and followed waymarked trail up to NS146868. Steep climb NE to NS151871 where the gradient eases off, then fairly easy ~1.4km NNE stroll to summit. Grassy top on rocky outcrop. The pillar has been in a state of disrepair for some time. It has badly weathered over the years and what was the flush bracket face has crumbled and been refaced with yellow sandstone mortar. It is difficult to ascertain whether or not there is a flush bracket under that excess of mortar but in all probability it has probably gone. Wish I had taken a hammer & chisel with me. The spider is now well proud of what remains of the pillar top but its centre still retains an OS centre can deep indented letters. One time flush bracket S6475 faced southwest, compass reading 239°. All four sight holes open, pillar bolt visible and photographed. 360° panorama from top includes distant landmarks such as Tinto and Ailsa Craig.

Metal cap, deep letters; spider exposed. FB gone: was evidently on W face which has peeled away (most of face seems to be now lying flat nearby, no sign of FB); pillar face roughly repaired. On rock outcrop; another outcrop 65m to N is slightly higher - the Marilyn summit. From WSW, layby at NS143882: first 250m tough (deer track - a bit obscure, N bank of burn) then straightforward nice grassy climb, a little brashy at first. Greyish start to the day, a little drizzle.

Pillar is disintegrating due to weathering of the cement. Local stones are standing proud of the surface where the cement has gone. There has been an attempt at a repair, which may have obscured the FB, this is not an area with many FB free pillars.

Trig in poor state on one side and top, surface disintegrating. No FB, unless it's underneath the cement repair job; would need a hammer and chisel to find out. Spider almost completely exposed, but OS cap still there with indented lettering. Four holes open. Steep ascent from Forestry Comm carpark at Inverchapel.
