Pulled into car park on south side of road about three hundred metres west of the Tor. Pillar not quite visible from the car park. One field to cross to get to the Tor, either over walls or gates. Pillar nestled in between rocks with vegetation growing up around. Spider and cap in place. Raised S prefix. Reasonable views although not as spectacular as from some other nearby TPs.

Having driven past/parked nearby countless times over the years whilst letterboxing on Dartmoor, felt it was about time to attempt to visit this elusive trig point - elusive as it isnt easily visible on approach and Private is on the gate. As one does nipped over the wooden gate near the carpark, walked along a pleasant grassed field beside the hedge, slipped through gap in just-open metal gate and then up and around the small tor through the high gorse to eventually find the trig point! Beautiful views of both moorland and green farm fields, and trig point is in good condition thankfully.

From the moorland car park a few hundred yards away, it is and easy trig to bag. Hopped over a gate and a short walk across the field, no animals there today. Bel Tor is not one of the best loved Tors. Only noticed the gate had private marked on it when I returned, never mind, I left everthing as I found it, good country boy that I am. This was the last of 4 trigs bagged on sunny Easter Bank Holiday Monday.

This must be one of the few Dartmoor Tors without public access. We parked at the junction with the minor road and took the Two Moors Way south until we were at the back of the tor. It was then through a gate (not marked private) acros a field and over a barbed wire fence and stone bank to get to the field with the tor in. The trig is just below the top on the southern side and quite overgrown with gorse etc. If you've got the bottle there is a gate which leads straight to the tor on the first hedge line but as other commentators say, this is marked private, and there are normally quite a few cars parked because of the ubiquitous ice cream van (which we took advantage of after visiting the trig).
