From Kettleton Bridge through Burns Farm across 3 fields to a gate then followed obvious ditch to near top then branch off to trig. On to true summit then headed passed the Routen Burn gorge to Morton Park and the track back to Burns and Kettleton Bridge.

From Burn Farm. No veiw today with low cloud that I hoped would clear once I got to the trig. Shame have to come back again

Parked at Kettleton Bridge, wide grass verge (NX 9037 9811). Through Burns Farm and across sheep pastures to NX 9086 9894 then ATV track before veering off near the top. Pillar sits in a shelter cairn, centre cap missing, no plug; front sight hole open.

Parked at the bridge then basically walked through the farmyard and followed the track through a couple of fields onto the open fell. An easy to follow grassy rake to almost the top then through the heather for the last few hundred yards. Contours suggested it would be steep but didn't look too bad from the car - the contours were right, or perhaps my aged limbs aren't so suited to this anymore. Good views from the top on a clear sunny winters day.

NX907996, LR78. HISTORY: Pillar completed 25th April 1954 costing £37.3s.0d. Computed for triangulation as tertiary station NX99/T4 during 1954. Levelled for height to Class 2 precision also in 1954. Last maintained by the OS in June 1988. SITE VISIT: Parked by bridge at NX903981. Followed farm road to NX902985 then northeast along boundaries and north up open heathery grazing hill. Pillar in wind shelted and in good condition. Spider retains OS centre cap with deep indented lettering. Flush bracket faces 51°, NE. Vented through sight hole on FB face. Came up from Durisdeer, via Glenleith Fell. Views to Criffel. Found an empty whisky bottle beside the pillar, which presumably was left by the last visitor. Is this the secret to Rob's astronomical bagging totals - he's powered by Glenfiddich?
