(308) Armed with a list of trigs to bag, and a older camera-phone to act as stand-in whilst my current one gets fixed, I headed off on another early start. An incredibly foggy morning, so I'm not sure any camera would have been of use today, if the mist hadn't finally lifted. And a first time visit to West Keal for me. A fantastic looking hidden away church. Surrounded by various livestock filled fields. Shame it wasn't a clearer day. Cut BM partly obscured by a fixed bench, but soon spotted.

CBM on south face of tower. Lashing with rain still! Retired to the cafe in the village in the hope it might ease off before our visit to the nearby pillar. It didn't.

Station TF47/INT022 is the vane, computed to 3rd order in 1950 and maintained 1981. The church is on a hillside above the village and with a sloping churchyard, viewing the vane, which appears to be at the centre of the tower, is difficult when close to the church but can be seen from lower down the access lane.

West Keal Church The vane is visible in this view.
