Log #518. From RaBT car park, easy walk up but no views today due to low cloud. Very enjoyable hill though, will need to do it again on a clearer day. Pillar base very exposed, some slight damage to faces, cap missing and no plug. Some faded graffiti in red paint. [ExP-356/MiP-38/Rev-6/BM-39/IS-52/Other-27]

abulous trig. Great ascent track from Rest and be Thankful. Views out to Ailsa Craig and just as good in all directions. Met a trio from Edinburgh near the summit who said they had been up for the trig bag! Had intended to continue to The Brack but too much sunbathing, a laboured descent to the coll (my knees argh) and a desire to get a pub dinner meant this was put on hold for another day. The trig has a crack appearing approx half way up on the North side plus a little damage on the top.

Top surface flaking and Allan Key has been by. Great views on a frosty day. Winter sun hid Paddy's Milestone, but Galloway and Arran clearly visible.

Some comedian has filled it up with stones since Rob's visit in January. Great viewpoint today: could see as far as Ailsa Craig, at least 66 miles.

Walked up from the visitor centre in Glen Croe on a fine day with good views down the Clyde from the summit trig which is showing signs of a crack halfway up. A wonderful descent was then enjoyed down the north ridge to complete the circular back to the visitor centre.

Parking at "Rest and be Thankful" or nearer on the forestry track an NN227068. Head SW along track for ~300m and follow the path up the north shank. Danger! indeterminately deep crevices near summit. Descended via east shank for The Brack - good visibility required to plan exact route as you go, no continuous paths and many sheer drops. Pillar completed 25th June 1956, cost 75.16s.2d. Tertiary station in Block NS29, Greenock. Good condition other than minor damage to top surface. Spider centre open, Front sighting hole open, others plugged. FB on SE face of pillar. Photographed 24/03/2007, GRP.
