Another rural road-side surface block that needed a little excavating. The grass on the verge had been mown… but not recently and there was no obvious sign of where the block was hidden. I had brought a copy of the OS engineer’s sketch map and used that, along with my trusty tape measure to put me in the right ball park. My ‘prodding rod’ soon located the concrete and a few moments work with a trowel uncovered the S/B. There is a steel pin driven into the centre of the road opposite the location. If you can find that, you’ll have no trouble locating this one. There are no views here, it’s just a hedge-lined rural road junction. I did get some strange looks from passing motorists who were obviously wondering what a scruffy bloke with a long tape measure was doing but nobody stopped to ask. I left this one uncovered but I don’t expect it will remain so for too long.
