Not sure that remains is a correct evaluation. There's no sight of any metal work, just a stone base. I think destroyed is more accurate. Fine building

South vane present, astronomical theme. Looks to be stump of north vane, also the small dormers have their own small vanes! Gates open early Sun am but lots of activity so didn't venture inside

SD47 INT032 VANE. Impressive building, now the Jamea al Kauthar centre - providing Islamic secondary eduction for girls, the gates were very firmly locked. Previously an eduction facility for young people its original name being the Royal Albert Ayslum for imbeciles and idiots of the severn northern counties. Several names changes since all fortunatly slowly reflecting societies better understanding of learning disablities before closing in the mid 1990s. The vane that can be seen is on the south end of the ridge. The name implies that there were two vanes originally on both the north and south ends of the ridge line. Looking closely, it appears that the trig has gone but its base remains.
