From unmapped CP at ND 332014 with TuMP Beinn a'Bhragaidh. Lovely circular, also MTB trails and easy to wander off main route

No FB as noted (a dubious first for me). New deer fence a bit of a pain but manage to avoid slow moving heavy showers either side. Wild views with turbines trundling in to further enrich the estate I suspect.

Followed same route as David Bremner below me, also spotted stags. Was glad to touch the trig and head back to the monument....bit of a bog fest.

Parked up in Golspie and followed the Ben Bhraggie footpath to the Sutherland Monument. This part is a steady, steep climb on a good footpath. From the monument I followed the track beyond until the pillar came within distant sight. Straight line then across squelchy grass/ heather with a gentle climb to Ben Lundie's summit. Stags at the rut to my south on lower ground were bellowing away. Pillar in good condition (built without FB) and sits on a fine viewpoint with many tops visible including Morven & Ben Griams. Sea views also. Returned same way with sections between trig and monument runnable. Fine day out!

Enjoyable day and a useful visit to the DOS monument - having driven past on previous occasions. Done with Big J and Nozzer.

Parked in Golspie and followed the sign posted path up Ben Bhraggie. This is a steep ascent which landed us beside "The Mannie", in about 45 mins. Fantastic uninterrupted views all round. The marked trail at the back was followed until a convenient bend was reached and then it was a wet slog across boggy ground interspersed with snow patches until the pillar was reached. Like a lot of Ross-shire trigs, this one had no flush bracket. Original plug with raised letters. Good views and well worth the effort despite the floundery snow. Returned by the same route. With Nozzer and Downfaller.

Beinn Lunndaidh is the true summit of Ben Bhraggie, which has themonument to the foul Duke of Sutherland on it. Another hill with this honour is Lillishall Hill in Shropshire, which I also visited around this time. It was the Marilyn Hall of Fame dinner meet in Golspie ,and while most folk were watching England draw with Sweden in the World Cup, I slogged through the rain and interminable bogs to bag Beinn Lunndaidh. The pillar has no flush plate, so no number folks.

Lunndaidh Trig In the background is Ben Bhraggie which has a less savoury summit adornment. The same egomaniac has a monument on Lilleshall Hill in Shropshire.©fasgadh
