I visited this pillar on my one and only trip to Scotland, on 06 Aug 1983, accompanying a friend of mine (Bob) on his last Munro. This was long before I became a trig bagger but, to mark the occasion, I took a photo of Bob & another friend with a bottle of bubbly on top of the pillar. Somebody somewhere might have a better photo of the pillar but, since it is now long-gone, this one will probably suffice for the time being (JWR 13/08/2006).

The pillar as it was in 1983 Bob Whittall on the left (Munro bagger on his last Munro) with a colleague, standing by the stone-built pillar which was in reasonable condition at the time.
