(89) And the last one for the day - along with the adjacent water tower - before heading off home. Very impressive to see up close. I wouldn't mind also checking out the dish antennae situated nearby, but was unsure how to go about this, if indeed it is allowed at all.

Stenigot Radar Mast No.4

Station TA30/INT022 consisted of 4 radar masts in a line from TF 25579 82715 (No.1) to TF 25682 82553 (No.4), equally spaced. They were all computed to 3rd order in 1950. Only No.4 now remains, the others being destroyed in February 1973 but their bases remain. The masts were originally used for air raid early warning from 1940 and later as navigation aids for bombing targeting. Mast No.4 is now used for training for working on elevated structures. At the north-west end of the site are the remains of four dish antennae which were part of a NATO microwave communication system from 1959 into the 1990s. A thoroughly interesting location!
