Another quick revisit en route to Whitby so my little trigbagger could bag it. Pillar condition and easy access all unchanged from my previous visit, it sits a very short distance across the track and heather from the small car park. Very straightforward to visit.

About a 45 minute diversion whilst walking the Cleveland Way. Walked up from Ravenscar on the road - no pavements - to the Beacon Howes car park. Trig is approximately 100m south of the car park, across a fire road and hidden behind a bush. Took a little while to find but it's there!

Visited the trig trinity whilst on a day out on the Yorkshire coast. Parked near the mast for the short walk to the pillar. Good views including partial sea views. The pillar is in generally good condition but the original centre for the spider has been replaced with a plain disc.

I stopped by this one while out cycling in the North York Moors. This one is located not far from a dead-end road making for a great cycling lane. An excellent viewpoint from the top and has a fresh coat of paint!

Another great pillar! This was a short way off the A171, down a dead-end lane - just head for the mast. I parked up in the small carpark, and it is a short stroll over the moor to the pillar, which is gleaming white and tucked in behind a tall bush. Pillar is in excellent condition with lovely views - really great spot to visit, and access is a doddle.

Staying in Ravenscar so this was as easy one! Standing on the road with your back to the mast, there's a track opposite. About a hundred yards up the track there's a big bush on the left - the trig is behind that.

(1604) Started to get quite misty on the way to this one. But the nearby mast stuck out, so I knew I was on the right track. Handy bit of parking just passed the pillar. Ground was boggy but nothing too bad, and it was only a short walk from where I'd parked. A guy was indulging in a bit of amateur radio next to the pillar - who's hobby was the nerdiest, I wonder... Pillar in good condition, though the centre plug is missing and filled in. Scant details in the records, but built around 1936, and last maintained around 1991.

On a walk with my son, a kind of 65th birthday treat, from Robin Hoods Bay to Burniston along a stunning coastal bit of the Cleveland Way. Trig is easily found near the aerial, views are moorland and woodland to the west.

Approach across Stony Marl Moor from CP off A171 (it is worth dropping down into Ravenscar & following path by golf course, then down through some quite amazing topography, to the sea). Spider has resin cap - pillar has GPS plate - views OK.

An easy trig to bag - as long as you look behind the atmospheric clump of trees, great way of avoiding the crowds on Cleveland Way - enjoy the heather moor then down for cake at Boggle Hole

Took a detour from a rapid walk from Whitby to Scarborough along the Cleveland Way. Snow began on the lane up from the beach south of Robin Hoods Bay, and by the time I got to the summit there was no view and a half inch of white stuff covering everything.

Parked close by en route to Ravenscar to do walk to Robin Hood's Bay. Weather dull and murky with a stiff breeze, so views not so good, but worth finding, apparently it is the starting point for the Lyke Walk Way, although you would never know.

Camping at Robin Hoods Bay the evening before my 4th Coast to Coast walk. Decided we would have a walk up to bag this one via the disused railway line and Stoupe Brow. No problem at all with access by foot and you can even park nearby. Easy to find. Condition good with superb views of the Bay.

HISTORY: Pillar completed around February 1936, exact details not on record. Originally intended as primary triangulation station PP59 this marker was eventually computed as secondary station NZ42/T50 within the Middlesborough block during 1948. Also PP59 in SN70. Levelled for height in 1954. Last maintained by the OS provisionally in 1991 but is now maintained as a GPS passive station. SITE VISIT: Approached from north. Free public car park at NZ969012. Short direct walk across easy ground to top. Pillar in good condition, recently repainted and fitted with GPS plate. Spider centre plugged with smooth brown substance. Flush bracket faces NNW, ~330°. Vented through SE sight hole. 270° open outlook, adjacent large bush blocks remainder.

Trigpoint skulking behind thicket trying to hide but in winter its not much of a disguise. Nearby mast rather ruins the view which is mainly of the rolling North Yorkshire Moors. Car park nearby for the lazy but today climbed from the beach below Ravenscar which is a stiff climb. Sunshine but stiff breeze to cool you down.

Only about a minute from the road but fine views onto heathery moors, in bloom in August.

Marked the start of my Lyke Wake Walk attempt, which was started immediately following my Coast to Coast walk, obviously something of a mistake as I ran out of gas after 23 miles and had to abort, but thats another story. Nothing special about the location, except for the lonliness of the place. Pillar in good condition and seems to be made of the sort of material that never really needs a coat of paint. My 200th trig! WooHoo

A hundred yards or so from the minor road, with an easy walk in along the tracks. Nice location.

Low FB number. Plug replaced, GPS plaque, pillar painted white. Good views towards Scarborough Castle. Also tried to bag the elusive grid ref OV000000 but unable to find a safe way down from the cliff top.
