Up from Dobson wood area on good paths. Had to dismantle the cairn to reveal the plate then the shiny bolt.. Great find Dusty super views to the Coniston ranges from here and out to sea now clear of mist in the sun.

Grey & windy walk from our accommodation for 5 nights at Thurston bagging benchmarks en route. Carron Crag followed by The Park [Park Crags] and then Top o' Selside revisit. Loads of small worms underneath most of stones in cairn removed to view block.

GPS indicating a few metres SW of the cairn. No prodding or digging implements with me, beside, it was pouring with rain. ***Revisited 4 Dec 2020. Well done Dusty for taking that cairn apart, I did today, although only sufficient to exposed the circular section of the square plate so did not uncover enough to remove it to view the bolt. Happy at that. Cairn re-built.

As with others,no luck in finding block. Lovely walk taking in 8 tops. Parked at Dodgson Wood car park & up through the woods. Top o'Selside (WO/B)-Top o'Selside (Ma)-Heel Toe Hill-Arnsbarrow Hill-Stang Hill-High Light Haw-Low Light Haw-Brockbarrow. Visited the true summit on Brockbarrow then Wainwright's 2 cairns before heading down to the Cumbria Way as the sun was setting. Beautiful colours & great views over Coniston Water & the Coniston Massif. Descended through the woods by headtorch.

3rd order, Levelling class 2. GPS suggested 1-2m S of summit cairn. Ground a bit stony for prodding, didn't find anything worth digging for. Nice view of Coniston Fells. Up for a few Synge & Birkett summits. From NW, Dodgson Wood car park.
